For those who like to feature the men behind the machines in their projects, Adalbertus have released a nice 1:48 scale resin figure of Merian C. Cooper, a brilliant pilot but also the father of… King Kong!
Introduction
It is impossible to do a review of a Merian C. Cooper figure without proposing a biography of this man who seem to have lived several lifes! You can find one at the
www.adalbertus.com website and credits for it goes to Wikipedia and Mr. Wojciech Bulhak.
The figure
The 1:48 scale resin figure of Merian C. Cooper has been sculpted by artist Boris Knokov and is very nicely done. Detail is very fine and the casting perfect with only a limited amount of cleaning necessary. I don't know the character of Merian C. Cooper enough to be able to tell if the figure is a perfect match, but from the photos visible on the accompanying biography sheet it is not bad at all. Only some good painting will be necessary to do the figure justice.
Conclusion
Adalbertus' 1:48 scale Merian C. Cooper resin figure constitutes a nice tribute to this interesting aviation figure. The only difficulty will be to gather the Polish markings needed to do the Ansaldo Ballila or Albatros D.III Oef. planes he flew during the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-1921. But there is always the possibility to do a diorama of a King-Kong movie set...
