If you have one [or more] of the 1/48 MiG 21 kits and you fancy building a diorama around it then Eduard have released a photo etched boarding ladder. The ladder is often seen in the images of the MiG 21 at rest.

Included in the semi resalable plastic bag are:
-1 x small photo etched fret [97mm x 38mm]
-1 x A5 single sided instruction sheet.

The ladder, which is a 'A' frame structure in profile, is made up from seven parts, with three optional parts. The ladder with the steps and the support frame are both double lengths that are folded in half to give a little more depth to the structure. As with all the Eduard etched sets that I have seen, the part that folds has a etched line, which helps enormously to create a good positive fold. The extended parts above the top rung need to be twisted 90° and they form the part that sits against the airframe. At the end of the twisted parts, the part that rest against the airframe two circular supports are added. The circular supports are each made from three circular etched parts that need folding. Eduard have provided a extra set, just in case you carpet monster is feeling peckish while your cutting them from the fret. Finally the single piece brace is added between the ladder and support frame. The three optional parts are a single piece of etched metal that provides a step at the top of the ladder that is a little wider in width. The other two parts provide a split wider step at the bottom of the ladder.
You will notice from the images there are numerous scratches on the surface of the metal, but theses will obviously disappear under a coat or two of paint.
There are no painting instructions, but it is easy enough to find references. From my references the ladders are generally painted red.

Conclusions.

What a great idea from Eduard and will certainly create an interesting addition to your finished model. The construction looks straightforward and not complicated. If you have never tried building using PE parts, this is a good release to start. Nice one Eduard.
