The EA-6B Prowler has been around for many years now and is soon to be completely replaced with the EA-18 Growler in the next few years. Throughout the course of its storied career it has held some pretty nice looking designs/artwork to represent its CAG aircraft.
decals
This decal sheet comes with markings for 2 different USMC squadrons. It covers VMAQ-1 "Banshees" BUNO 163030 and VMAQ-3 "Moon Dogs" BUNO 161242. The recommended kits for these decals are the Old Revell EA-6B Kit #RM5623 and Kinetic's New EA-6B Kit # 48022. Inside the bag you recieve one sheet of Bright Vibrantly colorful decals. From the looks of the sheet you should be able to build both aircraft as the sheet only includes the main markings and not a lot of the stencilling. The regester appears to be perfect and colors look very good. The sheet was printed by Cartograph Of Italy, which we all know are very well known and used by companies often. Walkway decals are not provided however they do list FS numbers for the walkway colors for each A/C. Also the decals appear as though they may be a little thick when applied.
instruction
A folding instruction sheet is provided for decal is provided for decal placement. It has very clear loctations depicted for the left side of each A/C With messages for each one as the opposite placement on the right side. The instructions also include an in depth color reference chart with FS numbers listed for each scheme.
conclusion
Seeing as the decals have no full tail decal options, you should see a good fit using either Kit recommended. Would have been nice if they would have included some more of the aircraft stencilling, but that won't keep creative modelers from getting some.
Look for these as they look on the Kinetic Prowler in a short while as I will be using the VMAQ-1 Decal portion very soon!
SUMMARY
Highs: Two nice Options for the not often covered USMC ProwlersLows: Not a lot of finer stencils. May be a little thick Verdict: Overall these should be a welcome addition to us Prowler addicts, and should look great when applied
