If ever a kit needed a set of masks for windows then the 1/72 Breuget Br 693 kit from Azur comes pretty high on the list. Montex have stepped up a produced a set and also produced masks for the main wheels as well.
Contents:
Contained in the small zip sealed transparent bag is:
-1 x set of black masks for the canopy and wheels.
-1 x mask guide.
Before you start it's well worth going over to the
Montex website to fully acquaint yourself on how to get the most from these masks. The tutorials are very helpful.
The Breuget Br 693 has a lot of individual panes of glass making up the canopy and nose glazing. This mask set from Montex will certainly save you a lot of time and effort creating your own and certainly worth the money alone. There are masks for the main wheels only with this release. Unfortunately there is no placement guidance for the masks for the glass panels. You will have to work out what goes where from the shapes.
The vinyl mask material have a completely different feel and look to masks made from Kabuki tape. Before you apply the masks get a feel for them first by using the masks for the title of the subject. The backing paper overlaps the masks themselves slightly. Use a sharp knife in the corner of the sheet to separate the two layers and carefully peel away the backing with your fingers. The cuts for the different parts of the masks are very cleanly cut, and separate very easily.
Conclusions:
This set will certainly save you a lot of time and trouble masking the extensive glazed areas of the Breuget Br 693. It's a pity there is no placement guides for the window masks as there are so many. Even so I don't think it will be too difficult locating the individual masks in the correct area.
