Designed for the Revell kit

Background

In the area I lived not far from Toulouse a frequent sight and sound was the rather large A-400M on it's test flights. I am hoping to acquire the Revell kit soon as it's such an interesting looking aircraft. I was glad to see that Eduard have released a Mask Set for the windscreen, windows and the wheels. It will hopefully save a lot of time creating them myself.

Contents

Inside the semi re sealable packaging is one set of Kabuki flexible masks and a single sheet of instructions. There are thirteen masks for the main wheels and since the A-400M has twelve those nice folk at Eduard have provided a spare. There are also mask for the two smaller wheels for the forward undercarriage. Oddly Eduard only supply the masks for the outer hubs of the nose wheels. I suspect that the raised detail found on the inner wheels would have made attaching a mask rather futile. The masks for the wheels fit over the hubs.
The flight deck has six windows including the windscreen and there are masks for the ten windows in the cargo bay. There are also masks for the four landing lights fitted to the forward part of the main gear pods.
I tried pulling away some of the surplus Kabuki tape from around the masks and it came away cleanly. Just be careful lifting the masks themselves from the backing sheet.
The instructional diagrams are black line drawings. The areas where the mask are applied are highlighted in grey and Eduard have also included the kit part numbers that the mask are designed for. All very clear.

Conclusions

There are a lot of masks packed onto this small sheet, 48 in all. To produce the masks yourself will take quite some time, so Eduard have saved you a lot time and effort with this release. Highly recommended.
SUMMARY
Highs: This set of mask will aid you in achieving an excellent painted finish to your A-400M. The wheel masks are particularly useful. Very good instructions.
Lows: None noted.
Verdict: If you have the kit, then these masks are seriously recommended. The thought of hand painting all those wheels, brings me out in a sweat. Nice one Eduard.
