I have never been one for dioramas until recently, but the release of some quality after market product by the likes of Eduard, Maestro Models, etc has changed my opinion. This ladder and FOD guard set has re inforced the positive feelings about adding that little more interest to the finished kit.

Contents

Inside the semi re sealable bag is a small fret with pre coloured parts and also a A5 sheet of instructions. The fret itself contains the one piece ladder in yellow, the colour is wrapped around the whole structure. In fact all the parts except the separate rungs for the upper part of the ladder are painted on all sides, fantastic. The fret itself feels a little thicker than normal and with the depth of the paint the part does not look quite so two dimensional. The sides of the ladder need to be gently folded 90° and the curved upper part of the ladder needs the bare metal strips adding to form the steps leading up to the cockpit sill. The positioning of the steps is made easier in that there are notches in the frame where the steps sit. There are a couple of black painted strips to add to the ladder and these rest the ladder against the fuselage side. The hooks at the top of the ladder hook over the sill of the cockpit. Nice and easy.
The bright red parts for the FOD guard may present a little more of a challenge building wise. The handles and clasps that are tiny separate parts, will need very careful folding. Just like the parts for the ladder the paint is wrapped around. There is some very fine detail on one side of the FOD guard so make sure you add the handles to the correct side.
The instructions take the form of black line drawings and symbols helping enormously with what to do with the parts and where exactly to place them.

Conclusions

This is very nicely designed and produced set will be a superb addition to the Platz T-33. Although the ladder looks complex Eduard clever design has taken a lot of the difficulty out of creating it, That wrapped round colour looks fantastic as well and adds depth to the ladder and FOD guard. Very nicely done Eduard.
SUMMARY
Highs: Good design. Wrap around paint job. The parts seem have less of a two dimensional look to them.
Lows: Price. Should be given away free in every packet of Corn Flakes.
Verdict: Love them. Highly recommended.
