PROFI Apple Tree, Apfelbaum mit Früchten
This model is packed in a blister pack stapled to a heavy card backing label. The tree is secured by the root base in slots. Useful graphics on the front are silhouettes of a human in H0 (1/87) ,TT (1/100) ,N (1/160) and Z (1/220) scales, with graduation marks to judge the height of the model. On the back label is a table listing trees that NOCH models, the prototype heights, and the scale heights for HO, TT, N, and Z Scales.
This tree is made from plastic. The trunk is molded with noticeable bark detail. It is inserted into a base, which on this model leaves a noticeable step between the trunk and root base. I think this step should be blended together. The base is molded to resemble roots in earth.
The trunk is molded with integral boughs and branches, and several of each that appear to be separately attached. Some have noticeable flash.
NOCH paints the trunks by hand to avoid any shining plastic surface. Brown paint is used. Apple trees that I looked at tend to have graying lower trunks with browner branches. You can repaint it without much effort if you so choose to.
This model has tangled boughs and a round shape. Domestic apple tree branches are "trained" into scaffold whorls that give apple trees a spread out look. This model has an ornamental round look.
For foliage NOCH covers the branches with fine fiber before they are flocked. NOCH uses their own milled and painted material representing the leaf shapes and colors of the subject tree. The leaf veils are denser than what I see on most real apple trees. To see what I mean please go to the photograph of real apple trees via the link

The foliage is in different colors and has no sheen to it. The result is a convincing tree that does not have the "cookie cutter" duplication of most mass-marketed model trees.

To visually demonstrate this model I show it with 1/35 infantry, a 1/48 staff car and figure, a 1/72 Pfalz D.XII, an HO box car plus a 1/87 sports car and figure, and a 1/160 50' box car.
Summary
My PROFI apple tree looks convincing with nice armatures, bark detail, fine leaf detail and colors, and convincing fruit. The leaf veils are dense.
Unfortunately, the shape seems too round and not spread open enough; it has a step where the trunk fits into the root base. And it is painted brown.
These trees do look good and can be acceptable front row trees. Recommended.
