This is a kit of the Bf 100C and D variants which are the ones that fought in the Battle of Britain. It is a follow-up of the earlier E-offering, and judging from both the extra parts in the kit and Eduard's own release schedules we can expect a night-fighter G-variant before Christmas.

Starting from the outside, Eduard has as usual packed the kit in a beautiful box. I like the general graphical profile and the cover painting is great, showing the best-looking of the decal options! Inside, there is a full box of sprues, all of them packed individually or in pairs in separate bags to avoid scratching. The clear parts come in a ziplock bag, while the same goes for the masks and the coloured photo etch that comes with the Profi-Pack version. To top it all off, there is a booklet containing clear and well drawn instructions with colour artwork and Gunze paint numbers for all the decal options. I haven't seen any weekend-edition releases of this kit yet so I don't know what will be lacking in them - generally speaking at least, the masks are worth their weight in gold considering the kind of canopy on this aircraft...

Speaking of decal options, they are another strong point. In all Eduard kits I have seen, they seem to have gone to great lengths to present the builder with a varied selection of options. This kit includes five different options, two in greens, two in greys and one (almost...) all-black night-fighter. The options all have their own little twists, with one of the grey machines having a yellow nose and huge wing tanks, while one of the green ones have a sharkmouth and the other one the huge (and rather ugly) belly tank.

Casting quality... I've spent the better part of an hour just fondling the plastic and drooling over it...It's remarkable, it's marvelous, it's a Hasegawa-killer! Thin recessed panel lines, complemented with nicely restrained rivet detail, covers the most finely cast plastic parts I ever have seen in a kit. When it comes to parts, there are lots of them. However, quite a few of them are not needed in this version of the kit, so it is a good idea to start by weeding the sprues for the parts that are marked not for use.

Details... Simply remarkable! Being a Profi-Pack kit, this makes the most out of a combination of plastic and colour printed photo-etch. It is however designed so that it will work out well even without the photo-etch; instrument panels are either supplied in two versions - blank (for use with the etch) or with moulded-detail. Even it this isn’t a review of the built-up kit (stay tuned!) I’ve actually managed to glue all the cockpit parts together. Even unpainted and without the etch it looks well detailed and very busy!
