The contents are packaged in the usual Pavla style, you will find 6 sprues with 12 pieces cast on them in grey resin and 2 ejector seats cast separately. The small amount of flash will be easy to clean up. Two small instruction sheets complete the detail set.
The instructions are two sheets printed in black and white with part numbers clearly marked.
Cockpit colours are given but no FS paint numbers; the majority of the cockpit and detail would have been black anyway.
Cockpit sidewalls
The Airfix kits cockpit walls will need to have all molded details removed. Dry fit of the 2 resin walls looks good.
Cockpit floor
The casting sprue will be easy to remove with a knife. Nicely cast piping and control boxes.
Instrument panel
No decals here, dials, switches and sights are cast on. This is much more realistic than the kit panel.
Ejection seats
Two Martin Baker Mk 3B ejector seats are included in this set. (Seats are available separately from Pavla # S72079). Casting blocks are on the underside of the seats and will require a razor saw to remove. The seats have lots of details cast on them including seat belts which some may wish to remove and add PE etc. Ejector seat top actuators will have to be formed from small wire to finish off the seat.
Canopy details
The set comes with a cast main canopy rib and actuating cylinder which will be a nice detail on a model with an open canopy.
SUMMARY
Highs: Crisp mouldings and clear instructionsLows: None apparentVerdict: Pavla has added a good update kit for an Airfix kit that has not been on the market for long and in its own right worthy of this resin update.
