Before there were Albatros D types there were Fokker, Pfalz, Euler and Halberstadt single seat fighters. These were developed to answer the threat of enemy aircraft by intercepting them and preventing them from reporting back with photos and information on German troop movements in 1914-1916.
Digging back to 1978 we come across one of the better references designed for the amature historian and modeler on the subject of early German aviation units. The author was the late Alex Imrie and its is still available on Amazon. This book not only lends to accurate and well written historical text but also includes the organizational facts on the first Jagdstaffels.
