With the expansion of "Amerika Programe" (German preparations for America's joining the allied forces) and development of newer fighter aircraft the German Fliegertruppen (air service) soldiered along. Lessons learned in the first years were honed to more efficient operations and Geschwaders (fighter wings) were organized with air operations policies rules and procedures introduced. This is a compact assessment of those days in the German air service.
Digging back to 1978 we come across one of the better series of references designed for the amature historian and modeler on the subject of early German aviation units. The author was the late Alex Imrie and its is still available on Amazon. This book not only lends to accurate and well written historical text but also includes the organizational facts on the Jagdstaffels (German fighter units).
