The F-4 Phantom is one of the most well known aircraft in the world. Designed as an all weather fighter it set new records in speed, endurance and altitude. It was also the last ace maker flown by the United States. Phantoms were operational for more than 40 years and saw service with many different countries.
Revell has released a new Snap-Tite kit of the F-4 Phantom in 1/100 scale.
The kit comes in a simple clear plastic blister pack. The pre-painted contents of the kit are clearly visible, letting the potential modeler know exactly what they are getting. This is handy for those helping a younger modeler choose what they want to build based on how it will look.
There are a total of 25 parts inside. Only the landing gear is attached to a sprue. My sample did have some small attachment points still visible on the parts but they were easily removed.
The instructions are simple line drawings and total assembly is presented in 6 steps. They are clear and easy to follow.
With the assistance of AJ, our 10 year old soon to be son, the kit was assembled. Attachment of all parts was very secure. AJ did need some help with some of the parts as it took more force than he was able to provide. The plus side was that once attached, the parts did not come off. It took only about 10 minutes to get the kit build and AJ was very happy once it was done.
The best part about this type of kit is that it allows for the opportunity to help a young beginner. Snap-Tite kits can build confidence, teach kids (the target audience) how to follow instructions and think three dimensionally, organize and even learn some history, as well as provide for all important interpersonal time. This kit, when completed, is sturdy enough to be played with, and over the past couple of days has seen almost as much flight time as the real thing.
If you are looking for the chance to spend time with your kids, or get a young beginning modeler a start, snap-tite kits offer exactly what you need.
Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE..
SUMMARY
Highs: Simple assembly, and the clear package lets you see what you are going to build.Lows: May require more pressure to snap the parts together than a young modeler can provide on their own. Verdict: A great starting place for the beginning modeler.

I got back into the hobby a few years back, and wanted to find ways to improve, which is how I found this site. Since joining Armorama I have improved tremendously by learning from others here, and have actually finished a couple of kits. I model to relax and have fun, but always look to improve. ...
