About skipper
Hi all Crew Members! Rui Matos, 39 years old (in 2006), married, former Portuguese Navy Fire Control Radar Operator , and "owned" by two cats - James, Stripes (Riscas in portuguese, now deceased) and Moon (Lua)! I've been modeling since I was 6, but only have turned to Submarines in 1991 or 92, when I received a Verlinden's Seehund as a birthday present! Since then, I kept on building a relatively small collection of subs in big scale (for naval modelers) 1/72 and 1/35 or 54mm, mainly WWII, but also the American Civil War subs. I am usually able to make three to five models a year. I am pround to be also one of the seven co-founders of AMA - Almada's Modeling Association (back in 1996), and giving a little of my extra time beeing and working as a VP and PR. I am also a member of ModelTroia Club - and since 2003 member of the Naval Juri. Formerly ME and than Senior Editor for Modelshipwrights. This staff position here in Armorama's Warships, in the beginning, was possible because of our dear and departed friend Garry Beebe, who pushed Jim Starkweather to do it. My wife gives me full support, except when the boxes are really big :D Remember Modeling should be FUN!
