Here is how it goes...
I was watching discovery channel on cable here in Singapore about the F-14 Tomcat modern jet..full of agility...pack with massive firepower and having good track record but is no longer in use.... bought me back to my teenage years when the movie Top Gun was all in rage....
went to one of the model shop...saw the same plane built and on display and that's I got the inspiration to build that plane
But after talking to some good hearted modeller here in Singapore, some thought I was crazy to attempt a F-14 on my first try on aircraft model...instead suggested I should try any WWII plane first ....
And what a coincidenc... after that discsussion, that same evening..History channel was showing the series "Dog fight" and this episode has the American AVG group fighting the Japanese airforce piloting the P-40 warhawk under the China KMT banner during WWII...
So here I am...completed the assembly of this Academy 1/48 scale P-40..waiting to put some paint on it this weekend....
Found this picture of the P-40 on display in some museum somewhere...
And as luck would have it, this Academy 1/48 scale kit has the same decal as the marking shown on this plane in the museum ....
will post more picture later....
This week....I just saw another program on discovery channel that feature the F-16 and F-18 plane....so now I have to figure out how to add parental lock control to my cable remote control for discovery and History channel....

Got the tedious canopy masking done and paint it as well.....
Some light scratch mark left when I remove the mask, ...
It does looks good ... from far...but not it's far from good...
And it looks fresh from the factory at the moment...
But what the heck...the key point is that I have enjoyed the journey so far and I have not forgotton the scenery along the way
Gonna to start weathering this bird for the next 2 weeks....
Have a good weekend everyone....

Did a general wash on the plane....
follow by detail pin wash using raw umber on the panel line and the lines are more distinct now...
Will let the oil paiint settle for a few days before I start the chipping...

Great looking P-40 Mike. Looks just like the one in the museum.

Matt and Hemish, thanks for your comment.
Hemish, this cannot be my first kit...I have lost count of the number of kits I have done.
Also, I have conveniently lost count of the number of kits I have hidden somewhere waiting to be build
Anyway, this should be the last progress update on this bird...
Did the chipping and added in more raw umber wash to tone it down,
Finally mounted the MG and the aiming sight without breaking it, for a change
and use the white glue on the put the canopy in place..
Ta-da...done....
Will it end up somewhere ??? It definitely will, in-fact, its on its way there...
Until the next kit....
