1. I will build more kits than I buy.
2. I will finish all the kits I started in 2008
3. I will not envy the skills of others and be discouraged by the thought that I will never be as good, rather, I will be encouraged to try harder and maintain the consistency that makes those I have envied better modellers.
4. I will crack open the packages of my Home Resin casting kit and the Photo Etch stuff I purchased two years ago and actually try those techniques for my self.

I think that's enough to be going on with.

Cheers and happy new year to all,

Hugh

good resolutions esp number 3.
For me I'll try and complete one kit a month. I'd finished 10 in 2008.
and if possible try one new technique on each build.
e.g. spraying tamiya smoke for exhaust stains.

Nice idea for a thread ... 11 hours to go till 2009 ...

1. Finish the campaigns I've entered
2. Finally pluck up the courage to do a NMF
3. More exercise, be nice to people etc.

Happy New Year to All..........

New years modeling resolutions:

1. Keep focused on whats currently on the bench, and not to keep looking at all the new "goodies" coming soon to a LHS near you.

2. Try new techniques and stretch my abilities.
a. Want to "make water".
b. Want to improve my ability to do a realistic "Stressed Skin" or "oil canning" effect.
c. Want to do a NMF. (maybe combined with b)

3. Thin out my model stash some. Can't close the closet door now. Tried thining this year but just filled my Spare Parts box, (boxes).

4. Fill in the unused areas in my closet with New "goodies" found in my LHS. Found during research from a weak #1 resolution.

5. Find a long term project. A model kit that presents a good basic representation of the subject that could be done OOB. Must find a matching "PE / resin / metal" accessory set to complement the kit.

Bravo Terri for your #6....jumping into the 1/32 arena.

Regards
Steve

resolutions:

1. finish at least six models (should be possible considering the stack of half finished models that i have)

2. succeed the two campaigns I enlisted to (could be more difficult (to finish something in six months is very difficult)

3. write at least two articles/features for aeroscale (and thus giving back something to the site which has given a lot to me)

Need to finish more of the in-progress kits, which includes retouching some of the WW1-types (I didn't even touch any in 2008).

For me
It´s the same old song I guess
Buy more its then I can build. Trying to have an open calendar but here’s what’s coming

Roden Staaken 1/72
Roden Spad VIIc1 1/32
Special Hobby Nieuport 11 1/32
Academy Nieuport 13 1/32

That’s the models folks, the big stuff is to be a better husband, father and hoping for some grandchildren this year. So I guess you will be reading more poor English from this computer. The reason for been this late on this thread is not known to me, sorry

Says it all for me. The easiest resolution to make, and the hardest to keep.

Happy New Year,

Hi there

As regards Early Aviation I didn't make a specific resolution last year - just as well, because I'd have undoubtedly broken it!

I will this time though - and keep it simple: build the Seagull and the Halberstadt! The poor old Halberstadt will always get pushed about by sample builds, but it'd be a nice goal to see it sitting finished on the shelf this time next year.

All the best

resolutions:

1. finish at least six models (should be possible considering the stack of half finished models that i have)

Well, I got close. I only really really really finalised 2 models and got very close to final stage with 3 more.

2. succeed the two campaigns I enlisted to (could be more difficult (to finish something in six months is very difficult)

I failed! Only succesfully finished one campaign, did not even get started on the other one.

The reason for these two failures are work. The job has just taken an insane amount of time during 2009.

3. write at least two articles/features for aeroscale (and thus giving back something to the site which has given a lot to me)

Well I am happy that I did succeed in this one

It is interesting to see this thread this year, thanks for bringing it up Stephen. It demonstrates that I am not alone in my 'resolutions'.

I found this site by accident last year and am really enjoying it and the 'camaraderie' it affords. My resolution would be to
1. Thin the collection, (ebay here I come)
2. Finish the campaigns I am in.
3. Employ and master techniques I see used by others
4. Let those I care about know I appreciate them
5. Loose some weight

Thank you Stepehn for your work and efforts to keep this site going, your enouragement, and sharing your resources.

Best to all in the 2010.

P.S. Johannes...Still waiting for that ship model!!!

My resolution for this year was to "Not make any more New Years Resolutions" since I failed miserably with last years resolution.

I think I fulfilled my resolutions. For this year it is to get
organised with a desk/bench so I can use the a/b more often.
It makes painting so much easier.

That and finish the half done Wyvern and MG-K3 before starting anything else.
