Steffen could be right , I do recall seeing it some where else . Either way one will have to be added to the stash for a future build .

Rodens future releases 2010/2011

'Bout time they come back to the One True Scale. Sheesh, over a year with no 1/72 releases. At least they're doing extremely right and releasing the later Nieuport V-Strutters. Woo hoo!

Just for the fun of it:

(re: the Brumowski markings from the kit that does not include the sworls as decals ... and that I want to do) from The Aerodrome:

Quoted Text

The "sworl" camo decals will do the job, should be available in the next couple of weeks, but bear in mind that the machine in question had them on ALL surfaces (including beneath both wings), so you will need two sets. They are "cookie-cut" for 'normal' application to the upper fuselage, vertical and horizontal tail surfaces and wings/ailerons, so it might need more than two sets for just the one machine, which is why I didn't include those markings in our three decal sets for the Oeffag D.III. As to opacity, the decals are double printed (two prints of the same colour superimposed) to ensure that they remain opaque on a dark surface. It would make a very eye-catching model, though!

If you are thinking about hand painting, I can tell you that you'll need to paint around 13,000 individual sworls....... Good luck!

yes I wrote Rowan to add two sets of the sworls to my preordered Oeffag Decal sets

cheers

Actually its closer to 2,000 based on previous 1:48 sheets for complete coverage. The simulate "sworls" were done using a rag soak then wrung out in the pigmented paint. By the way Brumowski had 4-5 Alb. D.III 153 & 253 series aircraft painted in this manner. See;

I just hope they do provide the Benz Bz IIIa for the Roland D.VIb instead of another Mercedes like the first issue.

Hi Gang
not sure it was already mentioned. If so I do appologize. Seems Hippo model is really going to issue their 1/48 scale Gotha. Sprues seem to be ready. PE and Decals are at least designed. See here: http://hippomodels.sweb.cz/ for pix (the sprue shots are new to me ... look "eduard like")

cheers
Steffen

With this message Roden announces a new release # 414 Liberty D.H.4 1918 (Dayton-Wright-built) in 1:48 scale.

The Liberty DH 4 was a licensed version of the famous British two-seat general purpose de Havilland DH.4, which was built in the U.S. after its entry into WWI. An American engine, the Liberty, was fitted in the aircraft, and was much more efficient and reliable than most British power installations. The Liberty DH 4 was widely used over the Western Front as a scout and bomber, but numerous problems with the fuel system earned the planes notoriety as "flaming coffins". Nevertheless, the Liberty DH 4 continued in service until the very end of the war, and afterwards these machines were returned to the U.S., where they were used by the Army for several post-war years. Improvements of the fuel system and elimination of other defects allowed the type to carry on until the mid 1930's in commercial use. More than 5,000 Liberty DH 4 types were built in all.
