Hi folks
I´ve been out from WW1 modeling for some time now, almost a year, was just burned out and I had to do some familytime(TLC).
Started upp the older Strutter box in 48 scale and there´s where I picked up the hobby agian.
The kit needed some interiorwork so I used some hours and somer plasticard to fix up the office.

The kit gave me no problem to put together, some filler was used to fix the tiny gaps betveen the lover wings and the fuselage.Humbrol grey 64 was used for the primer, then some extra filler to fix some tiny spots the first round missed.

Spending four evenings to mask up all ribs with tiny strips of tape, then a thin preshading with a mix of Humbrol leather and black all over the maskings.

For now all have some time to dry up before the Pc 10 and linencolours will go on.Watch for next update on this

Starting up in the 48 scale feels just fine for me again and more pictures is on it´s way, for the moment I´m detailing up the Clerget engine. More paint (Pc 10) will go on the model tomorrow, next day the linen.

Hi Larsa,
It seems to me that you did a wonderful job on preshading: the colour mix and the sahde are very good (my apptempts ended being way too dark and sharp...).
I'll look closely on how you procede!

Take care

Hi Edo
Just go slow with the black I´ve had desame problems years ago, but mixed up the black with some brown helps alot. For this i used humbrol leather, but any brown will do, 40% black to 60% brown.

Welcome Back Larsa: I have this kit as well, started it but put it back. It is the clear version, sort of hard to work with that clear plastic. I will be scoping out your build, and hopefully get back to mine. The Girlfriend likes it. She fell in love with the plane after seeing the movie "Fly Boys".

Take care

Hi my friend, time for some updates. The "Comic" got the colours on. I used Humbrol 174, mixed with tiny 110 and 33.This linnencolour was then mixed with some humbrol clear. From this I got an semigloss finish and the clear will give the colour some "candy/See thrue"effect.

The Pc 110 was mixed from Humbrols 83,30 and 70, tiny little 33 and 110 was added. Even this mix hade the same treatment with Humbrol clear.when working with the airbrush the pigments in the paint do not cover the preshadings at onces. You can see when uou have enough and just stop painting when u like the tone.

The wooden part got a primer of Humbrol 63 over this I used oilcolor Burnt Sienna and Cadmium yellow hye(orange).

I feel your frustration.

This is exactly what happened to the decals of Roden's 1/48 Gloster Gladiator. They completely dis-integrated.

Arrrrghhh!!!

By the way, lovely job on the model, though. Very nice work.

Bummer about the decals Larsa, but Kudos to your Swedish modeler friend to get you some of his. I hate it when that happens. I use Micro coat and it works pretty good. The problem is you never know when they will shatter like that. I like your shading and color, the model is coming together real nice.

Cheers

Cheers,
