Well I have to say I'm very interested in this, I quite fancy a P-40 Warhawk vs a Ki-43 Oscar.

What dates do you fancy for the campaign?

My original plan was to build a La-7 for a team build which was unfortunately scuttled. Thus I will build a Bf 109G/K, if someone is willing to build the P-47 is will graciously accept the offer, if not I will try and build both. Though I am up to build a La-7 or a Fw 190 if someone would like to build the opposite. Thanks in advance

Would this also include their WW 1 series of duel aircraft ...such as Albtaros DV -vs SE5a ?

Absolutely! I'm thinking of doing the SPAD VII vs Albatros D.III myself (among other possiblities).

I have changed my mind, in regards to the La-5/Fw 190 that idea has been cancelled. Thus the Bf 109/P-47 is a go. If someone would like to build the P-47 great if not that is fine as well. Have a monogram kit kicking about.

OK, I’ve heard from Osprey. They seem to be very open to us doing this and have given us their blessing. They’ve also indicated that they would be happy to publicize it on their blog as well. They did tell me that they’re (understandably) a little bit touchier about the idea of using their logo if we want to put it in the banner and/or ribbon. What they’re asking is that if we do use it we include the name “Osprey” and they would like to see any proposed design to see if they have a problem with it.

I, for one, don’t have any problem with their requests and will be happy to forward them whatever we come up with. As for designing the ribbon and banner, this word was what I was waiting for. Now that we have some parameters from Osprey, I’m officially asking if anyone has ideas about how the banner and ribbon might look. Let us know what you’ve got and we can see what we like, then I’ll send it off to them.

Thanks, sounds like we’ve got a great start on this one already!

Here are a couple of ribbon ideas I had.

I haven’t submitted them to Osprey yet, thought I’d see what you all thought first. They’re kind of hard to read at ribbon size, though:

I’m certainly open to ideas from the rest of you!! Remember, if we use their logo, Osprey wants us to include their name as well. Let's see what you've got!

Man, I love this site! Gary Kato had a couple of possible ribbon designs:

And Pat McGrath suggested an actual header from a Duel advertisement that I cut back and made a ribbon from:

I quite like that one and Osprey should too. They’re all better than the original ones I made! What do you all think?

They're getting better and better (no offense to guys with the earliest ideas). I think the reticle in Pat's needs to be whiter to stand out, but otherwise it's great!
thanks!

I agree with Sean. The sight beneficts from higher contrast, like white or silver shade, but all the rest looks terrific.

Cheers
Pedro

P.S. Second call out for anyone willing to pair with me on the P-40 vs Ki-43 duel, to build the P-40!

I was looking at your request and I am intrigued in building the P-40 was building one for a different campaign. So if this is legal within the campaign's rules I will submit this partially completed P-40 along with my first submission. They did state that if one was building both adversaries a kit could be partially built. If no one is willing to accept your offer I will as long as this kit submission is accepted.

Trevor, If what you are suggesting is a team build where you would build the P-40 and Pedro would build the Ki-43, that's fine. But in that case both models would need to be unstarted. Only if you were building both models could you have a pre-started kit. Hope that makes sense.

All, It has been suggested, with justice!, that my modification of Pat’s design was good but still a bit hard to see. I tried taking the shading out and just making it white on black, how does this look?

OK, some variations on the ribbon theme proposed by Pat McGrath have been making the rounds. Here are the three I’ve come up with. Let me know what you like and I’ll send it off to Osprey for approval, then maybe we’ll have a ribbon for our campaign!!

1.
2.
3.

Well, I went with the lighter, shaded ribbon as I worked hard to get it to look like that, so there!

It appears to have met with approval from Osprey, who has given us a very nice plug on their Blog:

I guess we’re official now for sure!

Here’s the current enlistee list with book (if chosen) and current KitMaker site (if known):

Remco/4-BO-Green: La-5/7 vs. Fw 190 with Paul, on Aeroscale

Bob/Bigrip74
Pat/exer: Panther vs. Sherman, on Armorama
Jim/goldenpony: USN Cruiser vs. IJN Cruiser, on ModelShipwrights
Duncan/Klinker: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Jeremy, on Aeroscale
Paul/ludwig113: Hurricane I vs. Bf 110, on Aeroscale
Michael/MichaelSatin: Can’t make up my mind yet!
Jan/MrMox: U-Boats vs. Destroyer Escorts on ModelShipwrights
Burak/Panzerace
Paul/ppawlak1: La-7 vs. Fw 190 with Remco, on Aeroscale
Simon/RedDuster: E-Boat vs. MTB, on ModelShipwrights
Jesper/SGTJKJ: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Sean, on Aeroscale
Phill/WARDUKWNZ: T-34/85 vs. M26 Pershing, on Armorama
Sean/windysean: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Jesper, on Aeroscale

Don’t worry about it if you haven’t chosen a Duel yet, of course. We’re still several months off, after all! On the other hand, I know there are several people who expressed strong interest but haven’t enlisted yet (not naming names here [Jeremy!]) so if you want in, be sure to sign up !

I'm excited to get going, even though 12 months will be plenty for my aircraft build.
I have noticed that Jeremy has been quiet on all the forums. A quick check of his profile shows he hasn't visited in 2 weeks. I hope he's well but busy at work or home. He's been a frequent and enjoyable contributor up to now, including the Armorama What If campaign that he's leading..
All the best.

This sounds fun. I'm going to step into the ring with Special Hobby's Spad VII and Eduard's Albatros D.III.

Been thinking long and hard on this campaign and have decided to commit. I'm in with a Supermarine Seafire if any one would like to counter with the Mitsubishi Zero.

Likewise Luciano, I've been looking at the options and surveying the stash, and I think we might be able to team up. I have a 1/48 Hasegawa Type52 Zero with markings for several aircraft from 1944.

Let me know what you think.

Damian that would be great, my plan is either the Special Hobby Seafire II or III both of which are waiting in the stash. although I could also do a Seafire I using the Tamiya Spit Vb and an MDC conversion. To match the Zero though I'm moved towards the III.

Excellent, I will enlist and seal the deal !
Looking forward to this, it's an excellent concept for a Campaign, similar in a way to the Chev vs Hemi Group Build that I'm running over on Auto Modeler right now, but with guns !

Cheers, D
