Hi
Could we set up a Civil Aircraft Forum that covers all era's in one forum.

"If there is enough interest in civil aviation as a forum, rather then being split by era, why not propose it? You can post your ideas in Site Feedback forum, pm Admins, and even have members sign up for it by having them post their interest in your thread.

If there can be a Rotary forum, a Civil airplane forum is certainly a justifiable concept. You have a very active Moderator in Jessica that seems to love Civil airliners. She would be a great co-sponsor, and advisor to you on how to proceed.
Joel"

Following Joels suggestion I post this request.
I would help run this forum if needed.
Any one iterested?please post here.

This is a discussion which happens from time to time. Speaking purely for myself I'd be quite happy for a civil forum (gee, I wonder why?) but we'd really need to push for it given that the majority of members don't see the attraction. Let's face it; civil aviation is definite minority interest.

In the meantime, what we need to do is to fill all the forums with civil content. Come out and show the flag.

Personally, I think it's a rock solid idea whose time has come.
My main aviation modeling interests have for more then 40 years been WW11, now modeled in 1/48 scale. I have a interest in 1st & 2nd generation Jets, and I have to confess that I have a interest in civil aircraft as long as they have a prop or two.

I would not limit it to civil airlines but to all the "big flying things".

With other words, I would include bombers, heavy freight planes ... many of these have led a double life anyway.

Think about DC-3, Catalina ...

Any aircraft in civilan use would be included and no guns etc allowed.

I dont do many combat aircraft, but most of my interest is in Army and Navy transports.

Hi Jonathan.
I would say that if the aircraft still under military control/ markings or on black opps the aircraft would be excluded.

Hi Richard

I've reminded Jim of where the discussion on this very subject got to just over a year ago:

https://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/179146&ord=&page=2

As I stressed at the time, the current shape of our Forum is very much the result of the need to expand what was a minor section of the original Armorama into a stand-alone website, bringing all the existing aircraft content into a new format - regardless of how well it fitted. So, inevitably, whatever route we took, there'd be pros and cons.

Originally, we never envisaged Rotary Wing having a section of its own (as against being a sub-cat within each era), but it was strongly felt that it was sufficiently "different" to warrant it. (Similarly, I proposed "Rocketry / Space Craft" as a section, but it ended up on Model Geek (Losing that one still rankles! LOL!)).

So, in short, if the demand is there - we'll try to adjust the Forum to accommodate it. But, remember - one demand may be at odds with another - and, also, please be patient - it may take a while because Staff_Jim has a frighteningly long "wants" list.

All the best
