Before the latest upgrade, all the threads and posts I've subscribed to worked with notification emails. Now I'm getting some, and not others even after I re-subscribe. Anyone else having the same or similar issue?

Matt,
Thanks for the update.

I started this thread, and subscribed to it, but never received a email notification that you posted to it.

Other threads I do and don't get emails. For me it's the easiest way to stay current on the threads and posts I'm interested in.

The reason you did not get an E-mail is you have titled the thread "Subscribing doesn't always work", where as if it was titled "Subscribing does not always work" you would have got an E-mail and it is this issue that Jim is working on.

Darren,
Are you saying that the contraction is the issue?

A quote mark is the issue. So yes a contraction in the title is the causing the bug to occur. I have tried to add corrective code to the process but that failed as well. It's something I will fix ASAP.

Thanks,
Jim

Oh the joys of fixing code.

Thanks Jim for all the frustrations you go through on our behalf.

Well...

I have suddenly stopped receiving any emails for my subscriptions.

This has been happening for a few days, I waited to see if it was a temporary problem.

Cheers Rob.

I have received a bunch of emails Today, so hopefully it was a temporary glitch.
Looks like all the emails I was not getting finally came through.

Cheers Rob.

Guys the issue was that we had exceeded our allowed monthly number of E-mails, Jim S has taken steps to prevent this occuring again any time soon,

Has this been fixed?
If not maybe the contractions could be removed from the Titles.

To the best of my knowledge this issue has been resolved, but the publisher is the only person who can answer for sure.

Rob I have subscribed to those 2 threads. If you make a post in them I will see if I get a notification. We can then go from there.

I know that I am kicking a dead horse, but to let you know I also have been having the same problems with receiving notification.

At this time gents we have discovered the issue, any title that has quotation marks and other grammar of that type causes the system to read the title as an attempted attack or as code for the system. The result is that the system does not send out E-mails to subscribed members.

Darren,
I originally started this thread after Jim's software updates. I use notifications as my number 1 method to stay current with threads I'm interested in. Prior to the updates, notifications worked perfectly. Since the updates some threads that I subscribe to won't send a notification, some threads that were sending them just stopped for no reason, and some work consistently.

Two such threads that have just stopped with notifications is Brian's Build Log Topic 1/48 B-17F Build - 303rd BGs Luscious Lady. Are you saying that the dashs are causing the problem?

Also Julian's Grem's 1/24th Typhoon build just stopped sending notifications. In this instance it's the / causing the issue?

If that's the case, then Jim needs to go back to the old software as you would need to remove the scale fraction from nearly every thread.

Joel: the system has an issue with the ' as in Grem's and in 303rd BG's. I have made Jim aware of the issue again as it was our belief we had resolved this problem, which as it turns out we have not. As I am sure you understand Jim is very busy with the site, but this reoccurring problem has been added to his must do list. We could set the site up to strip grammar from the thread titles, but that may upset some more users and so Jim is trying to find out why the grammar is causing an issue now.
Sorry for the problem.

The B-17 thread has been fixed, not sure about the Typhoon thread.

Cheers Rob.
