Having located some PETG plastic, thanks to Magnus Fridsell's information, via Oliver, I made the dome part this morning. I havent finished a vacuform tool yet, but the smash mold technique worked fine.

mounted, primed, still some fairing in to do.

also got started painting the EC-121K

Hello everyone,

I will join this campaign with Tamiya 1/48th scale F117A Nighthawk. I usually built armor and sci-fi subject but I've been able to put my hands on this kit for a reasonable price.

Since I don't build airplane on a regular basis, I might need some help, so if you have websites or advices to point me in the right direction, I'll be more than happy to visit them or hear them.

Cheers,

Christian

Bon jour Christian, welcome. The F-117 is a very interesting and strange aircraft, I look forward to seeing your model.

Finished these two C-121 variants.

One of the outcomes of this project was developing a method of molding shapes and especially cockpit canopies. Now I have everything I need to duplicate the vacuform canopies in the Aeroclub Neptune kit. Ill be doing that shortly, so I can procede with building those in the coming weeks.

Wow, these two birds are really awsome!

Great work! I like especially the painting of these. How do You get such a plain, glossy finish?

I use Tamiya spray paints for gloss white.
After all the filling and fairing is done, I apply Tamiya fine white surface primer, many light coats, allowing each coat to dry completely.
When the model is completely white I apply TS-26 Pure White, again, many light coats. It might take two or three days to complete a gloss white paint job.
More pictures in the gallery.

Hallo Jonathan.

Thank You for Your quick answer! Probably for me, the hardest thing is the patience to let the layer dry completely!

Some work done on my build in the last few weeks:

This is the second time that I have built this model and it seems that the ejector seat sits to high in the cockpit

Good to see your progress Richard. Odd about the cockpit fit up. too late to re-work it I suppose. does that mean the canopy wont close?

Hi Jonathan
The canopy will fit, I was ready this time to check the clearance ,last time I had to remove the ejector seat and trim off the base.

Jan: Nice progress on Your Viking!

Richard: Good to see more starfighters here!

I have been busy finding a new home for my starfighters. Finally, I found one. But, as I am not as firm in doing diorama things, this really needed longer than I thought.

A fine display Oliver and in such tiny detail!
Give us an idea of the scale - How big is the base?

Hi Paul, the scale is 1/144 for the planes and personnel. The VW Bus is in scale N (1/160). So, the base is about 18 x 23 mm.

Starfighters as far as the eye can see!
Oliver , that is a very handsome diorama. One of the big values of 1/144 scale is the proximity to N scale. There is a huge world of N scale stuff.

Hey Richard, good to see latest progress, I know you get it done!

Still more than six weeks left to this campaign, some more promising starts could get finished in that time!

In case anyone wash't aware, the gallery is experiencing issues. Admin is aware of it and working on it. I'll try to post when it gets fixed.

"Just start to build my entry, Hasegawa 1/72 F-104."

Watch out for the ejector seat/canopy, the last two Hasegawa 104's that I build had issues in that area.
