Hi,
Another moves off the bench to the shelf, this one only took about a year and a half. One more to go then I can start something new.
First time modelling an exposed engine and second time using an oil wash for weathering instead of selective pin washes.
The only after market parts are the wheels and that’s only because I broke off and lost the tail wheel during priming, so had to source a replacement, plus a bit of wiring to the engine.
Thanks to others for posting their builds, I learn so much from them. I’ll try and post some WIPs of my next project.

My previous 109 just had a pin wash to the panel lines and a matt coat, the latest one had an all over oil wash and satin finish.

the oil wash brings out the rivet detail, but gives a slightly more grubby finish.
Also 2 109's now constitutes a collection?

Spud,
You can never have too many 109's. Both of yours look great! Visually, the Von Werra machine is more interesting to look at. I think you've inspired me to try some oil washes on my aircraft builds.

Well done!

Very nice build Spud, they make a great pair on display together. The oil wash gives a good weathered finish, it defines the detail without the exaggeration you sometimes get from pinwashing, and flattens down and blends the overall finish.

Great work, looking forward to your next report.

Cheers, D

Thanks Gaz, when I got back into the Hobby I said I'd stay away from 109's and spits...then I discovered the Eduard E's and IX's. SO now I have 5 109's (2 shelf, 1 bench, 2 stash) and 5 spit IX (2 shelf, 3 stash).
Weathering is always the stage that causes me angst and I tend to under weather than over weather. Still, it's a journey.

Welcome to the dark side Spud,

I see improvement between first and the last and that is something we all strive for!

Thanks Kent, I've been following your E7 trop build with some interest.
I've just finished my own interpretation of the E7 trop 'Black 8' which I'll post shortly.

regards.

Looks good.

Your photos are really washed out though - did you use a development app with an 'auto-adjust' feature?

You need to reduce the exposure, increase the contrast and black level
