Been working on this one on and off for a while now. It is the much lauded Tamiya rendition of the venerable F-14A Tomcat.

The kit was built with the addition of Fine Mold's plastic seat belts and weighted wheels from DEF Model. Painting was done with Mr Color lacquers and weathered with enamels and oils. Decals from the kit but they were a little thick.

With superb engineering, this kit was a joy to put together. Feedback welcome and hope you enjoy the photos!

Beautiful! I'm working on this very kit right now in the Jolly Rogers Campaign, I hope mine looks half as good when completed!

I too am working on the same kit. I'm doing the Swordsmen right after the Gulf of Sidra incident.. The decals and chin sensor are the only aftermarket I'm using. This has to be one of, if not the most, favorite model kits I've ever build. It's fantastic right out of the box.

Looking at your model just makes me want to build a 1:48 scale Tomcat!

Cheers

Nice work, perfect weathering.Only few cons. For more realistic view.PLEASE DO NOT ANGRY.
Exhaust pipes inside must be more blackish(soot and etc).Exhaust outer surfaces normaly with color gradient from blue-red-normal metall.
Panel lines,preshading/postshading - looks too regular.
Think with your perfect techiques it's easy to make.
Huge respekt Alex

Fantastic paint job, Mark! Though I'm not a fan of weathering, your's doesn't look overdone. Well done!
