I am currently building a 1/72 Academy BF109G 14/R6, and I am wondering, if they would have carried a fuel tank(s) behind the pilot in the fuselage, or just in the wings.
I ask as I am doing it with a little battle damage, and have a few bullet holes in the fuselage, but don't want to put some clear on it, unless I knew that they carried fuel back there, otherwise, fuel wouldn't have leaked from bullet holes back there!!
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

According to the cutaway I have in front of me, the Bf109G-14 had a fuel tank directly behind the pilots seat. The tank extended back as far as the aerial mast and came up to about level with the bottom of the canopy.

Should have mentioned - behind that was the Methanol/Water (coolant) tank. But this was much smaller.
