  • move
Tamiya's 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M5/5a Zero Type 52 kit. It was pretty much built out of the box. Only additions were added was a Eduard seat harness and I wired up the engine ignition and pipe lines in the cockpit area with some copper wire. Mr Color Lacquer range were used for the exterior colours. Decals are from the kit, which only come in the Limited Reissue from Tamiya. Markings are of, Lt. Tetsuzo Iwamoto, Rabaul Fighter Group, Rabual, New Britain 1943-44.

About David Johnson (Moeggo)
FROM: WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND

Hi!! I am from Wellington, New Zealand. I got back into modeling back in January 2005. I am mainly interested in World War 2 aircraft and RNZAF during that period too. I mainly build in 1/48 but do have a few 1/32 kits. I am also starting to build a few 1/32 World War 1 aircraft also!

Awesome job Dave, as always !! Quick question, what paint did you use for the wheel wells (and possibly the interior) ? Cheers, D

As a fan of japanese WW II aircraft I must say, you did a great job on this Zero, which is for me the most elegant japanese aircraft of that era. Last year I have built Tetsu's 53-104 out of the Hasegawa kit, which came as the "Super Ace" Limited Edition. Also in 1:48 Well done, Dave! Happy modelling! Torsten

great job! I see you used an overall wash? what brand ? I have been trying to screw up the courage to do my 1st wash and probably will go with with MIG products.
