Lady Doris - 356 FG P-51D Mustang

Here is my latest work, a P-51D from the colourful 356 FG. The kit is the Tamiya' 1/48th one, with the improvements of the Aires cockpit, Vector wheel bay, suppression of all the panel lines on the wings, like in reality, Ultracast wheels, exhausts ,flaps, prop and spinner. Alclad of different shades were used for the natural finish, decals are from the very good Aeromaster sheet on the 356 FG.

Thats gorgeous. Probably my favourite 8th Air Force P-51 scheme. The control tower at Martlesham Heath where the 356th were based is now a fabulous museum covering the long history of that airfield and well worth a visit. Nige

Hi Jean. It happens like that sometimes, views into the thousand plus region and no comments.Don't worry about it I thought you might enjoy a little "then and now". These are views from the control tower at Martlesham taken 66 years apart. Eagerly awaiting the release of the 1:32 Mustang and very much spoilt for choice as to what scheme to do. I think painting those diamonds would tip me over the edge All the best, Nige
