I agree that this definently a very broad definition of the campaign. However, I hope we will still be going by the campaign rules.

Hi Jesper and all!

What do you think if we go for the following rule:
The entry must be a military jet or helicopter still in use today by any air force?
Jean-Luc

Great definition. I am on for that one. That also allows me to build my Albatros

Conderning Early Aviation, for the second half of 2007 we are planning another Early Bird Contest. I have been hammering out some of the details. More later.

Hi Todd!

Good Question!

So far I've heard nothing from the Campaign Leader who submitted this group Build. I'm afraid I will have to lead this one...
Give me a couple of days and I will start a thread. This Campaign will run from July 1st until December 31th!

A small comment for the WWI campaign: maybe a subject could be choosen were both experts and total newcomers to planes from before 1930 could find some easy WWI models without too much rigging and complicated lozenge camouflage Just a thought...

Jesper, Try a fokker Dr.I or a Fokker D.VII. Eduard has a few 1/48 D.VII kits that are great for somebody that has attained your level of skill in modeling. They might be a bit hard for a begginer, but you should find them to be a pleasant build. (Read as no rigging). They will be coming out with a 1/48 Dr.I in the near future. Also no rigging.

Thanks, Captain

That actually sounds really good. Maybe it is a good way to get into planes before 1930.

There was talk of a new WWI campaign that was not too complex and easier to enter for total beginners in this field. ie. A campaign where you did not have to find and model the planes of two Aces that fought each other between 1st and 30th April 1917. Has this idea been shelved?

I Haven't seen the next Early Aviation Campaign proposal yet. I am sure it will be a good one though. Even though the Bloody April campaign seemes to complicated, it was a lot of fun.

Here is another one for you. 1/48 EDU8096 Fokker E.V. It literally went together in about 3 days and was one of my most satisfying builds...ever.

If I had to reccomend one kit for somebody to cut their teeth on, this would be it.

Only two bracing wires. Both on the landing gear.

Be prepared for some decal work. I only had trouble with the snakes. They want to coil up. I had to flood them until I could position them. Not really a problem as much as something to be aware of.

I am going to order a few more of this kit. And this was not the most colorful decal option!

Looks good very good, Carl.

My "local" internet store has the Eduard dual combo Fokker DVII on sale for 30 Euros which seems to be an okay price. In this way I can also mess up one of them and still have one to enter into a campaign.

The decals will really be a challenge, but it could be fun to have a go for it. We will see when the next campaign proposal comes up - maybe a Fokker DVII will fit in.

Decals on those D.VII are not really hard. Plan on a day or two of uninterupted time to get them done. The D.VIIs also have only two bracing wires on the undercarriage. You have to do a lot of test fittingto get all the struts straight, or the top wing will get you. 30 euros sounds real good. They go for about $40.00 here.

Yeah, the second one always seems to come out a little bit better.

I have 4 D.VIIs in my closet now. I would love to see a good one in 1/32.

Rumors are that Eduard will invade the 1/32 market.

Would a Korean War MiG-15 qualify for VVS? Not sure if Russia was directly involved as China was. Knew the answer straight away when I was younger.

I have enlisted for the modern aircraft campaign.

I haven't decided what I'm building yet. I can't decide between a 1/35th Dragon MD 500 or Kiowa scout helicopter.

On a side note, although it has been a while, I want to give my condolences to Mother for his loss. I hope I never have to confront a similar situation. God bless you and your family.

Hi Rick!

If the MiG-15 carries red stars then yes. If it carries other national markings then it won't qualify for the Campaign...

Thankyou Jean-Luc!
I have a MiG 15 in the stash along with some very nice Aeroscale decals. I'm in!
Would do a Stormavik if was available in 1/32.
Cheers!
