:-) As well as Jan and Bryan, I received an email from Jim, looks like we will get the green light. I just want to wait for Jan to reply before I make any rash announcements.
Stug, thanks looks like we will be OK, I will contact propboy and ladymodelbuilder when it's a definate go, I'm sure Penny is in and we'll get more when it kicks off.
One thing, I have been a bit uncertain about the legth of the campaign, if it runs May to December and Jan suggests 10 weeks. I've asked to start Monday May 19th, thats the day after the last of 3 other campaigns finish. 10 weeks would be Monday 7th July. Is ten weeks long enough?

10 weeks should be fine for me provided I get the Hurricane in by then. If not I'll be building a Spit.

:-) Yeah, 10 weeks is fine for me, but a change of tack though. It's not enough time for me to do my dio idea, so I will be doing a combatant from each side. A Hawker Hurricane Mk I and a Ju 88-A4 with Eduard etch for it to shoot down :-)
I think that 10 weeks might not be enough time for Roger (Favorisio) though, he's got a Hasegawa Ju 87 Stuka (I know cos I was with him when he bought it). I'm not speaking for him but It might be prudant to allow the novices a little more time, what do you think?

I have no problem with allowing the novices more time. What about keeping the end date the same, but allow them (those that we know to be entering in the novice category) to start earlier? I feel as long as we know that they will be in the Novice category there isn't a problem with giving them some extra time.

:-) Good idea Tim, then we all finish on the same date. Monday 5th May would give them an extra 4 weeks.
Something else, on one of the other campaigns, they're going to ask the Armorama comunity to vote for there favourite. As this isn't intended to be a competition, so no prizes, but I thought it was a good idea because it gets the members looking at what has been done and will help to encourage more to have a go. Another idea might be just for those taking part to vote, but not for their own. Thoughts please. :-)

Thanks for the offer of more time folks. I think it's important to finish on the same date, and I may, or may not, need more time, not easy to tell yet. But having the opportunity would relieve some of the pressure. I have had very little modeling time recently, but when I get up to speed again it should be OK.
I like the idea of a vote, even though there's no prize.
Roger

Ten weeks beginning on May the 19th should be right for me !
Posted: Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 04:42 AM UTC
:-) Not yet Stug, we haven't got the official go ahead, but I've had a reply from Jan and he's happy with the dates, Jim didn't have a problem with what I proposed so I think we can safely say that the campaign will start on Monday 5th May for novices and anyone building a diorama and Monday the 19th May for the rest of us. The Campaign will finish Monday 7th July (because of different time zones, rather than midnight Sunday).
Still not sure of what, if anything I need to do now. So I will give it a couple of days and contact Jim if necessary. I think everything is tied up, apart from a couple of small amendments to the "rules", but they wont affect anything. Unless I hear anything against I will include something about voting. So if you have any violent objections please say so :-)

I got my kit today !
I was looking for the sea gladiator but there was none left in the shop !
Anyway, I'll probably find it someday, so the info Martin sent me won't be lost !
What I found is the Boulton Paul defiant from Classic Airframes !
What I can say from looking in the box is that it looks like a nice kit, but it's going to need some work (not as easy as a tamiya kit...) !

:-) HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, I have the Classic Airframes Bolton Paul Defiant, It is a nice kit but, like you say, not as easy as Tamiya.
I think there's a walk around on IPMS Stockholm site, if not I might have some. I'll take a look. :-)

I got everything I need to start. A 1/48 Tamiya spitfire, a couple of figures from ICM's pilots and ground personnel kit and a nice round wooden base and some static grass. Enough there for me to get frustrated with, I think. (I hope it isn't cheating but I'm following the spitfire group build and taking notes for when I start.) A May start gives me plenty of time to either finish the kits I'm working on now, or more likely pack them unfinished out of the way.

SS-74. I can give a basic list of the main frontline aircraft involved in the BfB.
RAF
Hawker hurricane Mk1
Supermarine spitfire Mk1a and Mk1b
Boulton Paul defiant
Bristol blenheim 1f
Gloster Sea Gladiator
Luftwaffe
Messerschmitt Bf 109e and possibly 109d
Messerschmitt Bf 110c and 110d
Junkers Ju87b
Heinkel He111P and He111h
Dornier Do17z
Junkers Ju88a
Added to this list would be the reconaissance and air sea rescue aircraft of both sides. You could also add the various RAF bombers which flew bombing sorties against the invasion build up areas in France.
This list is not definitive and I'm sure many others could add ones I've missed.

Throwing my hat in late...I will do a Bf 109 E-3. Tamiya 1/72 OOB. Werner Molders' a/c.
BTW, I have an old microscale sheet entitled WWII German Aces. It includes Galland, Molders, Fink, etc. My dilemma is that there is no instruction sheet for this. So I ask, does anyone know if there was a sheet to this, or if not, does anyone have info regarding Molders' a/c during the battle?
If I knock this out in a timely manner, I will also try a Supermarine Spitfire Mk. I. Tamiya 1/72 OOB. Gotta find a set of decals for Bader or Finucane.

Hye all !
Now my defiant is built, but next week I'm going to hae very little time to paint it... so do you think we could have one extra week to complete our work ?
Now, to explain why : in a week, I'm getting engaged !
So I have a bit of preparation to do... cook some cakes (lamingtons, the australians around here will know what they are)... choose the ring (and eventualy pay for it)...
