Hi folks
Time to update you on what’s been going on with the Jug
The fuselage halves are glued together and there was a god fit after that I´ve sanded of some material from the interior diameter. I did paint some oilpaint the interior tubs and duct at an early stage. After pressing the halves together the paint told me ware to sand of. No Hi-tech, but it did the job.
I will only do the job in one of the gunbays so I´ve started detailing up that one. There is some more paint add wires do add.
The wings is now in place so it’s starting to look like an aircraft so the rest of this evening I will do some filling and sanding on the gaps between the wing and fuselage. I’ll going to use Milliput for this job. Milliput will give me to sculpt the filling so there will be as little sanding as possible
For this time

For the moment I’m preparing the fuselage for paint so there’s plenty of polishing and recreate those rivets that gone lost in the sanding of the seams.
I’m using a big needle to make new rivets and an Olfa cutter for panellines. Some correcting was done to the panelcovers for the gun. I didn’t glue the spacer long enough witch be needed to get the panels in level, all this has been corrected now and I’ll going to airbrush the first coat of paint in the coming week

Having started the paintjob on this biggie, I´ve had to clean out most of the bench to have some space for it. Its starts to get big this one. The first coat of paint is Humbrol gloss 7 grey, I think that this shade will give me the nice ground for the Alclad to sit on. The paint went on nice and clear so there will be no need for extra polishing here.
As an experiment I airbrushed a white mix into the grey on some panels, In my thinking there’s hopefully gives me an extra tone in the final Alclad
Another experiment is to paint the black bands on the base colour. If I’m lucky I´ve got the feeling of the washed of paints of the upper invasion stripes. I don´t know if this will work out, but for you, just lean back and follow this thread to get the answer. I will also paint the white bands before the Alclad going on.

Hi Lars!
Looking good
Its interesting to see your ideas for a base coat under the Alclad. I'll be following this aspect of the build closely. I like the idea with the invasion stripes as well. Its odd how they seem to be there on the profile, but oversprayed with natural metal???
Interesting take on it. Ive seen photos of nmf T'bolts with the invasion stripes oversprayed with olive drab which has faded to let the stripes show through. So many options
Dont you just love T'bolts.
Lars, remember you asked about how the cowling fins opened? The Eduard PE set I got today includes cowling flap actuators, might save you a lot of work. I'll be doing a review over the next few days.

Hi Guys
Time to show off what’s been cocking for some time in the paintshop.
The Jug has got the first coat of Alclad Aluminium paint. Trust me there is Alclad flakes all over the place. Some panels have got alternative shades with Alclad aluminium mixed with small amount of humbrol black or wood 110. Yes you can mix them without trouble. Now’s the time to find how much is neat and where it’s start to be too much. Having just done the topside, so I’ll will be back with underside of the machine later.
Any comments are welcome. Now let the pics talk for them self.
The last photo shows the D-day stripes that’s been overspray. The plan was too trying to achieve that etched effect the aluminium got after the paint was washed away. I’m not sure myself if this was the effect I wanted, but it’s fun to test it. It’s up to you folks to start the critique here. I’ll will not repaint it anyway
Cheers

and if you not sick off me yet I will update more

Hi Lars
This is looking really good!
Is the tonal variation of the fusalage invasion stripes due to the undercoat or did you use different shades of Alclad?
Soon be time for the decals

I just painted the invasion stripes before I´ll shot the Alclad, so what I´ve had to do was just put on enough of Alclad Aluminium over it.
Here you can see the work under, The whole plane was given a coat off Humbrol / gloss grey. Some panels had the grey mixed with white. The stripes is just a mixed offwhite and off black. What I mean with off is that the black and white is toned down so they don´t spark so muck

Just found this thread. Very impressed with your work. I like your pre-shading for the Alclad. I had thought of doing a traditional pre shade (spraying black along panel lines) before applying the aluminum but never anything quite like this. Can't wait to see more.

I like how it came out. But I don't know what you are going to do with it now. It is nice to know this affect can be achieved in that manner, and now it is up to the rest of us to figure out how to use your "discovery". Maybe you can repaint the stripes with a ragged edge to simulate wear, and let some of this show through.

Hi Lads
I have some good news and some real bad one for you. The good news is now’s the time for update on this mighty kit from trumpeter. I just love this kit.
The decals i´ve using is a mix of LSP decals from there range of decals. It’s a multimedia decalset. You get one sheet of ordinary decals printed by Cartograf, you got one piece of ALP (Short run) decals. Last you have a sheet of dry transfer from Hobby boss. For the moment I’m right in the middle of putting all the tine stencils in place. Having no big problems with different kind of decals, just have in mind if you need to put the decal in water or rub it on
The insignia’s in from Techmod sheet number 32004.Trumpeter´s insignia do not look right in my eyes, so it’s a good idea to replace them.
The sad part is that, when masking the canopy I´ve just managed to break the canopy in two pieces, so for the moment I can’t get the build complete without a canopy. Having send Trumpeter two mail this far without any response from them, Its not looking good from my horizon, but I’ll will keep the faith on this one, maybe there turning up a replacement canopy somehow somewhere, lets hope for some miracle..

Looks very cool, Lars. If it is accurate or not I do not know, but it looks good and it is easy to get the idea.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Lars.
That looks just stunning!
A real shame you managed to break the canopy though. How long before you get another one?
Squadron do a vacform razorback canopy. Its designed for the Revell kit. I imagine youve broken the larger of the two canopy pieces and if your posing the canopy open then the fit might be ok.
All the best

Those stripes came out real nice. Very realistic.
