Hi all!

Last summer Marc Toillié from Mark 58 introduced me in the fine Art of painting and weathering his own 1/48 scale display bases. Below you can see a picture with the Master and his student (right)...



The good news for Aeroscale members is that M. Toillié kindly donated the result of our combined efforts for a Give Away! Every member has the possibility to win one of the three following bases:
- PSP base U.S. style 1/48 scale
- Wooden planking base Luftwaffe style 1/48 scale
- Metal plates Japanese style 1/48 scale



All you have to do is find the Mystery Plane. Regularly I will post more and more details of an aircraft and the first to give me the name of it will win the base of his choice (shipping is free).
The rules are simple: every member of the KitMaker Network can participate (except Staff Members of course ) but only one answer between two picture updates is allowed. Please ask no questions about the Mystery Plane, only post answers.
The first winner will have the choice between the three bases. The winner of the second Mystery Plane contest will have the choice between the two remainding bases and the last winner will take what's left. The same person can win two or even three bases if he/she finds the right answers.

If you have already an answer, you can post it here. If your guess is wrong, nothing will happen but you will have to wait for the next picture update to post again. If your answer is right you win a Mark 58 display base. The picture is a drawing from a Comic book...

the more I look at it the more I get the feeling that it's Catalina in Japanese markings

Btw, the 1st photo shows the Master and the Student (the blonde one beneath the table), but what do you do there, Jean-Luc?

An Emily was my first, but obviously thats wrong, can i guess an Aichi H9A1

The Plane is a Kawanishi E11K1, and the image is from the Biggles comic book number 9, In dutch the title is "de 13e tand van de duivel" freelee translated it is The 13Th tooth of the devil.

Not off topic at all. In fact I should have started with that...

The products of Marc Toillié are available directly from the manufacturer, just send him an e-mail for infos and prices ([email protected]). Mark 58 is a registred company by the way, every product has a reference number and you will get an invoice if you buy something. PayPal is accepted.

Unfortunately only the french version of the website is available but there are some great pictures to watch, including new concrete bases for Vietnam subjects in 1/48 scale. Other bases in 1/72 and 1/32 are also planned.

Yes i know there is a foot there, im just not very good with the early WWII and WWI stuff (at least i think its from around that era) im not very good with the uniforms either

P.S. I just noticed it was the left foot in fact...

Haha well mate im not that bad after all! i am a plane geek! I was looking for 45 minutes and went through my books that mum gets me (heaps of books on world aircraft). once you posted the second clue i noticed some things like the engine and Yes, that foot...... so i decided to go through the whole world war 1-2 aircraft book again and on the first page i noticed a picture that looks like some of the features in the second clue. then i just looked it up on wikipedia and that exact picture was there .

and no mate i dont have anny special software its thanks to my mum and the old book with alot of plane pictures in it

James chose the japanese style base...



The last base to win is the PSP one. You can put many Allied aircraft on it (P-51, P-47, Corsair, Hellcat, Spitfire, Typhoon etc...) as well as many post war subjects.
