I also doubt that the Sd.Kfz. had green patches. Most probably it would be panzer grey worn of in places.

Hi Rowan and Jesper!

Yes you are right. Tamiya's instructions say grey as well, not green. My bad...

Hi all!

The Storch is almost finished...

There are still some details to do and the final weathering. I will wait until the dio is finished to do it. The "Greif" is also finished apart from some details as well...

The figures of the natives are mainly scratchbuild. I used Preiser figures as a base though...

Sorry Steffen, they are not available for sale...

Jean-Luc

P.S. I'm writing this just before leaving for the Thionville expo. I'll try to shoot as many pictures as I can there...

Beautiful stuff Jean Luc - I especially like the way you handled the interior of the storch, some very nice painting! I love the dio too, you must have much more space than I do to store finished models!!

Hi Jean-Luc

The finished dio is just as awesome as I expected!

I do think there's scope to add some more German figures. My gut feeling is that Rommel would usual travel with quite an entourage maintaining a discreet guard, even in supposedly "casual" moments like the one here. I reckon they'd probably have a fit at a couple of locals wandering by unchallenged, without someone keeping a very close eye on the most important German officer in North Africa...

All the best

...light sqiggles on a sand surface do not make much sense,...

Late to the party as usual, but I thought I'd still comment. The Luftwaffe used RLM 02 and 76 as disruptive squiggles over many patterns, FW 200s, Bf 109Ts, over black on HE 219 nightfighters and bombers.

The idea is to disrupt and blend, not to color-coordinate. When one considers glare and haze, a light color over the sand ( or darker colors ), seen at a distance, the acft would be pretty hard to see.
