Hello Nigel,

The Fork Tailed Devil is looking great! I don't have any 72 kits of the Lightning. I'm just about to leave for work but if a picture would help I can send you a scan from my Squadron book of a nose section for the "J" tomorrow after I get home from my shift.

Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Brian.
Thanks for the kind offer. I have a couple of photos of the Lightning nose area so I can probably work it out if push comes to shove. Ideally though, Id like a scan of that section of the instructions so I can match the resin guns with the kit ones.

Thanks Magnusf for scanning his Dragon P38J instruction leaflet for me.
( and the Academy one )
Just got to figure out how to attach the main undercarriage doors and I'll be almost finished.

The last few bits and pieces seemed to just fly on!
All finished.

Final thoughts on the Dragon kit.
As I said in the "in box" review, the missing windows in the nose mean it falls short as a Droopsnoot. Built as a P38-J its a very nice looking kit. Test fitting is certainly the order of the day, but if your carefull and methodical it wont cause too many problems.
Theres plenty of space up front to add weight, and I probably added about twice as much as it actually needed. In fact, if you hold the tail down and then let go the weight in the nose pulls the model back onto its nosewheel.
The main undercarriage doors were probably the trickiest part of the build for me, with hardly any surface area to attach with, but some CA gel and a steady hand seems to have done the trick.
Decals are AM, but the kit is OOB with the exception of the 50 cals in the nose which I replaced with some resin ones.
So thats Twin Spinners taken care of.
And now........its P47 time!
