No towels anywhere
Slight problem is that between 15th Sept and 20th Dec I have about 10 days at home and the rest of the time I'm living on a tour bus round Europe so I'm not exactly in a position to get the dremel out.
Ive done a bit, every now and again on his but motivation is quite low.

Hello Nigel -
A formitable task you have on your hands there! I'm anxious to see how this turns out. The Spitfire Mk I is one of those kits which I tried to build some years back, but became too easily discouraged. Just a few weeks ago, I was able to procure another Tamiya kit at a great price ($5 USD --- could'nt pass it up!), and now it sits proudly on my shelf-of-doom.
The Spitfire has always been in my top 10 -- we'll see how it goes!
Keep up the great work!

Trust you Terri!,,lol.
Since the first week in September I havent even built a P-47,,lol.
I was away from home until Xmas working and then of course New Year etc. It was the first week in January before I actually sat down to start something.
Anyway,, I HAVE done a couple of bits and pieces on this. Every now and again I have a couple of hours at it, but nothing worth posting any pictures of yet.
I wont be attempting to do anything with the wings/ammo/gun areas though,,its too much of a battle trying to get the cockpit to fit.
One day, (when the cockpit finally drops into place) I'll get moving on this, but until then its going to be an occasional project.

Nige,
Did you ever get the cockpit to fit in there? I had terrible issues with the same Tamiya and Aires parts. Would be very nice to see someone get it to work how it's supposed to!
(I ended up having to destroy the wing roots when they were spread out by the cockpit- see this thread- not enough dry fitting)

Hey Nige, this looks like an exciting build and a distraction from those jugs you normally spend all your time tinkering with.....lol
You're a brave man hacking away at a Tamiya kit like that, but I'm sure the end result will be fantastic. Will enjoy watching this one

Hi Ben.
Nice job on your pru spit!, I hadnt seen that until now.
Well, mine is way down on the list of "things to do", but I have had the occasional hack at it with the dremel, and if truth be known I'm not that far off getting that pesky cockpit to fit!
Both the resin cockpit and the fusalage sides are being taken down to "wafer thin mint" thickness.
Once thats going to fit I'll probably dive into this and it'll get done.
Until then, I have a bit of a build list, with the 1:24th P-47 taking priority at the moment, and then I have promised a vet I will pull my finger out and get his P-47 built.
Anyway, I quite like my occasional bullying and abuse from Terri

Now I know how the character from Shawshank Redemption feels, every now and again hacking and sanding and scraping and hacking and sanding and scraping and eventually you break out of prison,,or in my particular case, suddenly realise that the Aries cockpit sides will finally fit!
So, out with the Araldite and.....
Out with the primer and....
and amazingly enough the cockpit floor fits and the fusalage sides actually close up!
Ok,,that's all....
Move along..nothing to see............
We now return you to your scheduled programme..

When I saw the thread I thought Nigel had here done it's been four year!
Looking really good so far , that sure is a lot of sanding . Not sure if I would commit myself to four years of it though ...

I suppose it's what you may call an "occasional project"

Nigel, I'm really impressed with your efforts to get that resin cockpit to fit. Looks great.
