Looking back over the recent campaigns I have seen none for civilian aircraft. Although I appreciate the glamour of warbirds there are many good kits of attractive civilian aircraft and many opportunities for civilianising warbirds Qinetiq's Harrier Gr4, Reno racers (Rare Bear etc), Tiger Moths and Avro 504s, Bf108s, Ju52s or An2s. There are also plenty of Airliners and Helicopters although not many light aircraft. Rules could be simple-
any aircraft carrying clearly visible civilian registration
no recreated warbirds
Build starting say April to October 2009
Have fun
Any thoughts?

Andrew an interesting idea, I would join in. I like Burt Rutans oddities.

Hi all!
Finally my wait for a Civilian Campaign is over!
I have several airliners waiting in my stash and here´s the reason to build at least one!
Deciding on subject later, but i´m definitely IN this Campaign!
Cheers!

I like the idea, but modern airliners are definately out for me. I work on them and i can't stand the sight of the things now!
But historical ones are ok, and this ties in to my plan to actually fly over Munich next month in a restored civilain Junkers 52 "Tante Ju"- an ex Lufthansa aircraft i think. AND i have the Italeri kit of the exact same aircraft. So if the campaign goes ahead put me down for that one for sure.

Hi Andrew
I'd definitely join in with something - I've quite a number of vintage civilian aircraft in the Stash waiting for a good excuse to be built.
All the best

Hi, great idea.
I have a Noorduyn Norseman waiting to be built - but the Modelcraft kit that I have, has a cowl that isn't accurate at all. (that's being charitable)
So, I hope to make a new one (first time scratch-building) If I can do this, then I may build the Norseman prototype CF-AYO that was used in the film 'Captains of the Clouds'
Or, if I can get a 1/48 scale Curtiss Jenny,I'll convert it to a Curtiss Canuck and mark it as Wilfred May's which he flew just after WW1 out of Edmonton Alberta.
This campaign has a lot of possibilities.
Cheers, Richard A., Aylmer, Quebec, Canada.

i have 1 question.... you said no recreated warbirds. Does that mean i cant make a b-17 fire bomber. i have a erge to because there's been one flying around my house for the past week. Hi Seth
Looking at Andrew's proposal, I think a warbird converted to a true civilian role - racing, fire-bombing etc. would be fine.
All the best

Hi Seth, yes a B-17 fire bomber fits, but a C-87 converted to a B-24 wouldn't.
Ok, you experts, how do we convert the idea to a campaign, I'm new to this business so I need a guide. I know we need 10 modellers interested and we would have 8 including me. How do we organize this?
Interested so far
