That Danged Carpet!
I spent 30 mins last night, torch in hand, looking for a rolled etched Spandau Jacket that had some how flicked out of my fingers... I was petrified that I might stand on the thing... And it was 1/32! I even checked inside my slippers and socks!
In the end, I found it a whole meter and a half from where it should have been!
Now, it is securely CA'd to the rest of the gun.
Of the Eduard set that I purchased for the Fokker F1, I have been selective about what I use.
Cheers,
Hugh

Thats why i have a plastic carpet protector under my chair............still CAN'T find those darn things..........much less in the carpet. I'm terrified of having the chair (on rollers) roll over the part and crush it. I found one important piece that migrated to the kitchen somehow ON ME...........I just happed to notice it. WOW, what else have i lost that i don't even know about yet?
As far as PE........GOTTA HAVE IT...........got my bender, my MAGNIFIER....and a sharp #11. I too don't use it all......like those pesky turnbuckles. FLAT???? I just couldn't come to grips with that. Now some of the other stuff worked out well. Was more than pleased with the 7 or 8 layers of PE into one instrument gauge. Seemed stupid until I saw the finished product. Not bad..............
Regards
Steve

Yea, I must say that I’ll like the idea with sandwiching the instrumetpanels, Parts is a little bit hard to discuss with, do they never answer the mail I send them. Is my English that bad???????????or….
What I hope for was a new set from them
Who don’t need?
One set off Wickers in 32-scale.
One set off Spandaus in 32-scale
One set off instrument and rings for 32, 48 scale

Larsa,
I will have a set of the Vickers in 1/32 and 1/24, a set of Lewis in 1/32 nd 1/24, a set of Instrument rings in 1/32 and 1/24, and a set of Prop Bosses in 1/32 and 1/24.
That will get them thinking!
Cheers,
Hugh

Larsa,
This is yet another impressive build! Your wood grain is great as is your attention to detail.

Thanks RagIII
And the work still going in the rigth derictions Thgat is forward.
The whole plane without the tailfeathers are primed in a mix off Humbrol grey and white.Because the plane will be silvergrey in the end I chosed the get the primer or basecolour to be a light grey instead for the usual.Don´t ask why, I´m still belive in santa
So what´s next? I´ll going to cut all those strips off maskingtape to prepare the bird for preshading.

Have you done any more with this build yet ? It's like I can't wait any more . I did see a pic on this aircraft where the guns are put on top of the fuselage , but still has the same tail plane and with out the round wing tips on the lower wings . Not sure if this is correct , but I thinking I might do this with my And doing the aircraft in my own markings if I was the polite .

You're talking about the D.IIIa. From wikepedia...
"The most pressing complaint about the new Pfalz was that the guns were buried in the fuselage, preventing pilots from clearing gun stoppages in flight. This feature had been carried over from the earlier Roland designs. In November 1917, Pfalz responded by producing the slightly modified D.IIIa, which relocated the guns to the upper fuselage decking. The D.IIIa was distinguishable by its enlarged semicircular horizontal stabilizer and cropped lower wingtips. It also featured a more powerful version of the Mercedes D.III engine. Pfalz built approximately 260 D.III and 750 D.IIIa aircraft."

Thanks Mattew , I have all that info already , the picture that I saw i'm not sure if this was in between the changes of the D.III to the D.IIIa . Wing and tailplane are the same as the D.III , but the guns where not barried in the fuslage , but where on the out side .
I will see if I can find that pic again and post it .

That would be interesting if it wasn't a normal D.III or D.IIIa!!

Hi
Time for some update on the Pfalzbuild I know you waited for this one Terri. All primer is on and loads off strips off maskintape are applied. The strips is 0.75 mm, this take some time but Who’s in a hurry when modelling. When all tape are in place and some checking too see that compares to Windsock plans there’s time to give that old Badger some pressure.
A mix off Humbrol flat black and Leather is heavy thinned out and with low pressure I working my way all over the strips. I never get a straight line from the airbrush, but who gives upon this. When all strips are painted and the Badger is clean again I start to take off all strips. Yes the paint’s still wet so some carefulness is needed. Why you asking and the answer is that I don’t want any build-ups off paint against the tape. When all tape is off I let the model dry over night. Here you have the pics
Next face will be to mix up that silvergrau.

Hi
For the moment I just paint all things around me in the workshop. The Pfalz have got the silbergrau on and the mix I used was Humbrol gloss white, grey and a touch off silver.
Next stage I just mixed in some black to give the mix a darker tone. I did this before I wanted the metalparts around the engine a little bit lighter than the rest off the fuselage.
