I think it's going to be hard to gather enough people for a real campaign.
But we can still do an unofficial group build !

Shoot...I haven't built an aircraft model since I was in my teens but even I'd jump on a WWI campaign. There are a lot of wars besides WWII that need some modelling love! :-)

I know.....It seems that no one pays attention to ww1 and korea alot..........all they do is ww2...........

Except for grainy movies, still photos, and poems like this, World War I is far removed from people's minds. World War II has a lot of imagery associated with it and is the archetypical good vs. evil story, while WWI, the Korean War, and other conflicts were more political in nature and not as interesting to some. I sincerely hope that more people find an interest in other conflicts and periods of history.

Anyway...even if it's an unofficial WWI campaign I think you'd find more people signing up than you would initially guess.

hmm, looks like Im gonna have to scramble and find a WWI ac to build, this could be a fun experience

If you don't have enough money to spend on a kit we could make a no scale preference so you can get a cheap 3.00$ 1/72 kit...which you cab still super detail.

Ok..........I think we have enough people to start a campaign......lets lay down some rules and regs.........

On the other hand, if you have a bit more money to spend, you could get yourself an eduard kit in 1/48th scale. They are great.

I'm game - still got a trio of Revell 1/28 specials that need something more than the stock markings


If worse comes to worse, we could shuffle all the 1/28 building masochists into a separate campaign

:-) Just a thought. Although I personally would like to see this as just a WW I campaign, it might be an idea to open it up to any Bi-plane? That would let those in that might be a bit put off by all that rigging. :-)

Thats why I say I would prefer for it to stay just WW I, but we need 10 for a campaign. Just a thought to increase the numbers. We could ask to have this "rule" waived, as there aren't so many aircraft modellers, which would be my prefered option. Or, just had another thought, what about combining 2 campaigns. The idea being to tackle something that many are a bit scared of. One is WW I, because of extra wings and rigging. Two could be NMF.
Mind you I suppose that could put off many aswell?

Remember that not all WWI aircraft had rigging...the Albatross and Fokker D-VIII come to mind. Hopefully people will realize that rigging isn't a necessity.

How about any WWI biplane or monoplane that saw active duty during WW I, and any marking or insignia should represent a WW I squadron, country, etc.? These rules aren't really that far removed from the rules of the Battle of Britain campaign and would help keep the spirit of the WW I theme.

As for rules...how about the plane and no more than three or four figures? Maybe have two categories...a single plane category and a diorama category? Any scale up to 1/32?

Air's the boss on this one...just throwing out ideas.
