Trying to gauge the interest in an Italian themed campaign. Something that could start in say July and go into the new year. I really have a hankering to build some Italian kites. (Just received a CA Macchi MC.200 in the mail today and it looks very enticing.).

Themes would be one of two ways:

"Made in Italy" would be, as it sounds, any aircraft of Italian manufacture.

"Regia Aeronautica" would be Italian planes from 1923 to 46. (This could include foreign built planes flown by the Italians.)

Cheers,
Fred

Sounds good Fred , but what about us WW1 nut's , I have Fly's kit of the Macchi M-5 which would fit this campaign prefect .

I agree, that's why I think a "Made in Italy" campaign might be the best route. This would allow people to build things like those cool Caproni flying boats too.

and why restrict the time period?

having someone build one of these would be nice to see:

I think a "Made in Italy" would be the most inclusive way to entice people into a campaign around Italian aircraft. This would cover everything from pre WW1 to the present (just as long as its of Italian manufacture).

A campaign of this nature would be a welcome break from our usual fare of P-51s and Bf 109s. It might even coax a few to seek out some of those more unusual/obscure kits.

I also like the made in Italy option the best, i assume that would mean we could do it in other countries markings- as long as it's an Italian aircraft. I recently got hold of SH's Fiat G55 and that Egyptian marked aircraft really has me wanting to build it!

Hmmm. I have a few things this fall. Night stalkers is on, Mighty eight will start in september and I guess First shots will do the same, so there is one P 51 and one Bf 109 in the hangar.

However, there's no limit (slight exaggeration) to the amount of italians that has been flown in the Swedish airforce. Caproni 313, Fiat CR42 or Reggiane 2000 would be obvious choices. I might just "go Jesper" and sign up everywhere but I must think a bit more.

Well, you got me, Tony. I am up for this one - as usual

However, we might delay it at bit as there are many campaigns going on at the moment. Maybe September to March?

Good idea Jesper , fall time sounds more better . Some peoples plates are pretty full , this give more people a chance to sign up for this and get the work bench cleared of projects on the go !

What do you think there Fred ?

Hi Fred

It sounds a great theme for a Campaign. Work permitting, I'd definitely try to join in.

All the best

That's OK by me. I see a number of campaigns winding down this Summer. How does a kick off of Oct 1 sound? Then let's give it a nice duration until say, March 1.

Now I've never kicked off a campaign before, but if I understand correctly I need to get this vetted by the powers that be to be come official. Does anyone know the correct procedure for applying to make this an official campaign?

Cheers,
Fred

Hi Fred , Oct 1 sounds great and running to March is prefect .

For Campaigns you need 10 people or more who are commited to it before you can get it approved . Just click on the Campiagns next to homepage and right under that on the right hand side click on ( summit a new campaign ) . If you have any trouble lot's of guy's are more then willing to aid and then there is always the staff as well who are more then happy to help .

I can't speck for the others , but I would really enjoy seeing you come up with something in 1/144 scale , you do such fantastic work in that scale way beyond my talents .

Hi,

I'd be up for this one if it's to be a October to March affair. Have no idea what to make, but there's plenty of time to worry about that,

Mike.

Hi everyone,

I've signed up. I've had a 1/48 SM. 79 that I've wanted to do for a while now. It's the 1/48 Trumpeter kit.

I have 3 sets of "Part of Poland" detail sets, resin exhaust by Alphaflight and a decal sheet.......

The eduard "Big ED" set.............

and a few references......

I'll be going for a super-detailed build. I hope enough out there sign up. This will be fun!

Now Mark that is alot of metal (as Jesper said) . Don't the etch sets go on top of another? I mean you got BigED and part etch sets and there must be some same parts , so you just pick the better looking?

Tuomas,

Yeah, pretty much I just pick the best parts. There are parts on the "Part of Poland" sets that aren't on the "Big Ed" sets and vice versa. I bought these a few years ago and just put them away to check them out at a latter time. Perhaps I'll do a side by side comparison of the sets during the build. And, I'm sure there will be a little scratchbuilding, too. I'm sure there will be enough left over for another build on a more "closed up" model.

Have you signed up yet?

Terri,

I'm considering magnetizing the photo-etch and using the finished model as a refrigerator magnet.
