I'm interested in doing one or more WW I kits, but would prefer something that builds up pretty much complete OOB. Don't mind a bit of PE for the guns, though it would be nice if that were included. Only interested in 1/32nd scale, everything else is too small for my aged hands. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill
I recommend Special Hobbys Neiuport 11 or 16. That´s a nice start with little riggings. The rigging tends to get the best out of folks. The neiuport´s is very nice, but avoid Hobbycraft/Academys Nieuport 17 if you want something from the real.Rodens Neiuport 28 is aslo and easy one to have on the shelf.
Good luck

Thanks, Larsa. Actually I'm not put off by rigging.

I should clarify: I'm not looking for easy, just relatively complete and not requiring a whole series of upgrades. The new Eduard BF109 kits, for example, have a lot of PE included so you don't HAVE to do a lot to come up with a very attractive build.
I suspect the Roden kits are the right ones, but I would like some guidance from y'all.

Thanks, Nick. Eduard's WW I kits all seem to be below 1/32nd scale. But thanks anyway.
And awesome 28cl, Larsa!

There are some caveats with any kit. But for 1/32 scale, you won't go wrong with either "Roden" or "Wingnut Wings" new kits. "Roden" kits have for the most part, highly detailed companion PE sets from "Part of Poland." Wingnut wings have small PE frets included in the box with the promise of future PE augmented kits.

Yeah, Roden seems to be looking like the one. I don't know too many companies who are carrying Wingnutz just yet.

Hi Bill.
I found the three following kits build up to be beautiful models. They are relatively easy not just in the build but rigging as well. There is plenty of room for added detail if so desired.
Roden Albatross D.III, Roden Phalz D.III and the Academy Nieuport 17.
The Roden Spad VII c.1 also makes up to a very nice model but the rigging is a little more involved.
As far as I know, Wingnut Wings models are only available from them direct, they are not available in shops.
Cheers
Des.
Current projects;
WNW LVG (nearly done)
WNW Junkers J.I (started)
WNW Bristol F.2b (started)
Roden DH-2 (nearly started)

I don't remember if anyone else suggested the Hobbycraft SPAD XIII but it is quite nice, no major fit problems and can be augmented with Toms modelworks French Interior,(although most of the fret is geared for the Nieuport 17), and is relatively inexpensive. Also check out Copper State Models for 1/32nd PE, hand carved wooden props and a lot of other stuff. SPADA Decals have aftermarket decals available, see Misterkit USA if in the USA.
