Just received my Wingnut Wings SE 5a Hisso, and am looking ahead to rigging the thing. In the WW II builds I've done, I have used stretched sprue that I tighten up with a little heat. But the complexity of this task makes me wonder what better modelers than I am are using?

I use invisible mending thread. It is clear and you can paint it any color you want. Perfect scale appearance for 1/32 and it doesn't sag over time.
But there are lots of other methods out there and I am by no means an expert!

Bill,
The SE5a used mostly streamlined rigging called "RAF wire" by some people. It was flat with sort of an airfoil profile. Check out this link to photoetched RAF wire:
This would be pretty easy to use. Just cut to the proper length and glue it down. No need to drill through the wings.

Radu's just sent us samples - all being well, I'll have the review online tomorrow night.
All the best

That's awesome Rowan. I can't wait to see your review. I plan on using them for my SE5a build.

Bill.....check out Guitarlute's (Mark's) LVG build blog here.
Mark's using obscenly-perfect turnbuckles, but they're from some place I've never heard of (Parts of Poland). Did a Google search, and, well, you don't want to know....

Its just Part of Poland and here is where you can find them.
". . .I had one fellow ask what PE set I was using. Here is a bit of fun from Part of Poland. . ."

They have Turnbuckles as well in 1/48 only but they might be more in scale for your purpose.

OK, I was all set to order Radu's wires and then realized I have no idea which one is right for my SE5a. He now has four types available. Any suggestions?
