Not much to show .. just joined and bent the pe components that make up the engine doors, and primed most of the remaining bits and pieces.

Here I am literally taking baby steps but moving forward non the less! I was able to add most of the remaining bits and peices including the landing gear and external fuel tank.

Next on my agenda is to touch up anywhere that I might have over-sprayed and finish the canopy. That will be followed by a coat of Future to both seal the paint job and it will also assist both with laying down the decals and with the application of weathering wash.
Cheers,
Hermann

Really great build Hermann!!

looking forward to see it finished!

BTW what do you want to show with the black tipped drop tank? ... never seen such a thing (IIRC JG 300 was already in daylight ops when Schröder flew this aircraft) .. of course the engine was really dirty and lost lots of oil which dropped on the aux. tank (many pix show that) .. but this looks different to what you did ???

all the best

Thanks Steffen. In reference to the black tip on the fuel tank: It was displayed as such on the painting instructions found in tamiya's instruction sheet for painting Schroder's red nineteen. I can scan the sheet and post it if interested. Please advice if they are incorrect for it is still early to make corrections.

Hello Hermann

As I just had the JG 300 vol. 2 at hand, I shortly checked it. I cannot find a pic where the tips are painted, but almost all drop tanks in the book have a very oily tip. Still it looks different to your model. Just imagine you spill a litre of old dirty engine oil on a round surface ...

all the best

Steffen, thanks for the input. I've decided to ignore the painting instruction set forth by tamiya and will paint over the black tip with rlm 76. Just finished applying several coats of Future and will let it settle before setting the decals.

Here is a quick sneak peek on the WIP .. almost done with the decals for the upper fuselage. Sorry for the glare but it's due to the use of Future. I again had a bit of problems with Eduard's decals. On the upper wing, the line with the separate dashes came apart for each wing. Here I ended up adding almost every dash individually

Enjoy,
Hermann

Thanks Terri!!
Finally finished adding the decals ..just need a couple more coats of micro sol to get the decals into the edges (to get that painted on look).

The next thing on the agenda is to seal the decals with another layer of Future, and unto weathering we go.

Thanks for watching,

Hermann

Next .. I'll finish the canopy and add the open doors for the engine and the nose and wing guns. Thanks for watching,
Hermann

..looking very nice Hermann.. I reckon Ernst himself would appreciate that ..he's 87 years old, still actively modelling (or was the last time I spoke to him) and has a whole shelf of 190s in his 'Red 19' markings...a couple of things he mentioned about his Mühle - Rotbraun 45 red oxide primer paint was applied to the bolts which attached the armoured ring to the front of the cowl and the canopy was missing the Antenneumlenkrolle antenna tensioning device, so unlike most 190As the aerial wire hung slack against the fuselage with the canopy open..(that's evident on the photos i've uploaded to my Kitmaker gallery here) The ring aerial itself under the fuselage had been broken off, although the radio still functioned. Perhaps that's a detail too far though!...here's a pic of Ernst himself (on the right) seen here with Edelgard..

Great job so far, Hermann. The camouflage is absolutely outstanding. The black tip of the tank also looks a little strange to me as Steffen points out.

Looking forward to see it with the finishing touches.

Thanks FalkeEins andSGTJKJ!!
Quick update .. was able to add a bit of pigments tot he craft (mainly smoke for the exhausts and guns). I also added the open hatches for the engine and the wing guns. I then added the fasteners for the nose gun hatch. Enjoy

At last...I've conquered Eduard's 190 and I must say that I'm very happy and surprised with the results for this build definitely took me out of my comfort zone and was able to tackle it. This is just a tease for I want to take proper outdoor pix of the build and need to buy a decent backdrop. Enjoy!!

Thanks for all the assistance and words of encouragement that I've received from all!!I hope that you've enjoyed watching the build as much as I enjoyed building it. I'll post the proper pix in the near future.

Cheers,

Hermann

Really good Hermann!!

I like it a lot and you definitely make the Eduard kit shine! Hope it did not take all your aircraft motivation away ... what's up next?

all the best

Thanks Steffen!! I'm definitely sticking with airplanes, incidently I have 2 armor builds that I've neglected and can't find the will to pick up. I'm still on the fence with what to build next. I'm considering a quick and no thrills build for a change. It's either Tamiya's p-47 bubbletop or spitfire. I'm actually leaning more towards the spitfire. Both builds a no-thrill and bought some PE for each. I'll have do a bit of research since I've never built an allied aircraft.

Thanks Terri! I'm hoping to post the final pix sometime this week...if only I could add a few more hours to my day or clone myself. The build was a true joy and challenge at the same time. I just started the next build which is tamiya's supermarine spitfire. It'll be straight out of the box with the exception of a few pe details from eduard.
