Here are a few pics of my Wingnuts Junkers build. It's been interesting but I will have to admit, it sure is one ugly looking aeroplane. The huge slab of a top wing takes over everything, makes all my other 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft look small. I hope to have the top wing on next week.

Cheers

Des.

I will be leaving the engine cowls open to show off the engine so I added the bracing and drilled the strengthening frames on the inside of the cowls. I also removed the plastic hinges and replaced them with metal.

Most impressive Des , been following your build over on the Drome and the engine can be on display just on it's own ! Fantastic work !

Thanks Terri for your nice comments.

I decided to post the pictures here at Kitmaker because there seems to be a huge following for Wingnuts models. I have the complete build photo record over in the Drome.

Cheers

Fantastic build indeed! Did you build the model out of the box or did you add something? The engine looks terrific...

Thanks Jean-Luc for your comments.

Most of the build is out of the box. The engine received a bit of extra including valve springs, rocker arm supports, push rods, plug leads, plug lead conduit, extra plumbing, hollowed out exhaust stack. In the cockpit I replaced the instruments with scratch built brass ones and added more wiring and plumbing. I reshaped the cockpit padding to give it more appeal. Apart from that everything else is pretty much as Wingnuts supplied it. Even though it is not what you call a pretty aircraft it builds to be a nice looking model.

Cheers

Here are some photos of my completed Wingnuts Junkers J.1. It is a big model with a wing span of 50cm, but it doesn't look out of place with my other 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft. I am very happy with this kit, Wingnuts have produced a kit that has excellent detail, well fitting parts, very good decals and ease of assembly, as good a kit as my earlier build of the LVG.

I hope you like the end result, my next project is the Wingnuts Bristol.

Cheers

Des.
