Hi again. Here is another update. All camo colors have been applied. Light blue on the underside with Interior Green and Black mixed with a little White on the upperside. Masking was used on the wing topsides the rest was sprayed freehand. I'm still learning the freehand method. As far as the rocket colors go, I decided to go all Black with the noses and fuses drybrushed with ChromeSilver mixed with some Raw Umber artist oils after I saw some color profiles. I will be masking and painting the areas on the leading edge of the wings where the slats rest. I plan on having the slats open a bit. The wheel wells have to be masked and painted yet. Thanks Bryan. There isn't a lot of overspray from the Black. I guess you have to keep doin' it to get better at it. I see some builds where the demarcation looks wonderful and they say that it was freehand, it's very impressive. A steady hand is very much needed. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hi. The prop and spinner and wheels and tires have been assembled. Weathering on the prop and spinner was done with Black and White artist chalk mixed together and applied with a stiff brush and then brushed again with a nice soft brush to blend it out. The wheels were first weathered with the Future wash early in the build. I decided to use the same artist chalk weathering technique on the wheels and tires. The weathering is light so it is kinda hard to see in the photos. A little touch up has to be done where the wheels meet the tires. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Mal's Miracle Masks arrived the other day. The left side of the plane has been completed. They are easy to use. The masks I used were for one color so it was simple process. The masking film is very thin and conforms nicely to curves and bulges. The rudder on the Mig 3 that I'm building has overstated ribs. The masks conformed very nicely. The right side has to be completed yet and also the stars on the undersides of the wings. Thank you Mal. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. A quick update. All parts have been weathered and dullcoated. A raw umber wash and artist chalks were used for the weathering. A little more weatrhering needs to be done on the tires and gear doors. The windscreen and fixed canopy have been attached. The rockets attached to their rails. Thanks Automaton. This build is done. All the fragile parts were added last. One of the cool things about building models is when you start to attach the last of the parts it really starts to take shape. I really liked the way this one started to look when the last of the parts were going on. This plane has a unique shape all its own. Thanks Jean-Luc. I recently received some umbrellas to shoot my flashes through that softens the light and gives a nice spread of light. The backround is a 11X14 photo I shot somewhere near our house. The model was a joy to build. I really like the green and black scheme. I think it fits the shape of the Mig 3 well.
