Hi James,

I've used a dark green (bronze green like) on my Ki-45 (see feature here). I don't remember anymore, but it seems I've used Tamiya XF51 Khaki Drab...

There were variations though, depending on the version of the Ki-45.

Being a Kawasaki aircraft, it should really be sandy brown instead of green - like the Ki-61 and Ki-100. A few reviews and gallery builds have used green but the consensus is around brown. The colour is fairly close to one of the standard armour paints, but I can't remember whether it's German or British. If you look up Ki-61 builds, which are far more common than Ki-45s, you should get a good idea of the right shade.

Hi again,

There is an excellent cockpit walkaround in Replic n°200 with photos taken in 2002 of the NASM's Ki-45 in it's original colors. The interior color is really Dark Green (FS34083 is given in the accompanying article). But as I've said, there were variations. It seems the mid-production aircraft had this green color but maybe not the others. I'm not a specialist though...

For information, Hasegawa have specified a color mix based on Khaki in the instructions of both Ki-45 Kai Koh Toryu (09781) and Ki-45 Kai Tei Toryu (19195) kits. I don't have the third boxing of the kit.

Hi there

Building on what Jean-Luc says, you can see a few details of the NASM Ki-45's interior on J-Aircraft.com HERE and HERE.

All the best

Rowan
