Captain,
WW I aircraft are ALL cool!!!!!! But if I must choose it will be the Albatros D.V/D.Va with the SPAD VII/XIII close seconds.
These birds have great lines and the livery they were found in is just astonishing! All you have to say is Jasta 5 July 1917,
no one need say anymore!
Regards, Dwayne

Achtung!..Fokker Dr.I
Deadly and sinister looking, Manfred von Richtofen, Werner Voss, The Blue Max (the movie). Exceptional maneuverability, but as dangerous to those who flew it as it was to the enemy. The D.VII may have been a better machine, but the looks of the Dr.I give it the nod. Sopwith Camel, Albatross D.III are favs also.
Jawohl!

No run-away favorite yet, but the Albatros is still the leader. And I agree, after seeing all the variety in Jasta 5, it is hard to go with anything else. Not that I would have anyway.

Hoaky Smokes Bullwinkle! Where does one start with so many to choose from? My number one favorite is the Fokker D. VII in all of its guises. It just looks mean. My second would be the Nieuport 28, after that it's a crap shoot. I like 'em all.

Very difficult to choose a favorite, there are so many cool aeroplanes, but if forced to choose I guess it would be a tossup between the Siemens Schuckert D.III and the Bristol Scout C. I like the Siemens for its pugnacious look and the Scout for its classic simplicity.
Also high up on the list would be the Halberstadt C.V and the DFW C.V for the same reasons listed above--the Halberstadt has an aggressive look and the DFW is elegant.

I'm fairly partial to the early monoplanes, like the Pfalz E.I; just because they look so darn dangerous.
I actually flew one of those in my dreams, you know.

No secret here, its the Albatros for me, D.III and D.V/Va. A very close second is the Nieuport 28.

Favorite--Hmmmmm.... Depends. The one that appeals most to me for whatever reason, or the one I would want to fly if I had to go back into time and fight in?

Oh – this is a great question. For me it varies a bit according to when you ask, but some of my alltime favourites, in no particular order are:
Fokker DVII
OEFFAG Albatros DIII 153/253 – perhaps not a big surprise there
Albatros W.4
Sopwith Dolphin
Halberstadt CL II
FE2b (night bomber versions)

Now this has to be a 1, 2 and 3 as I can not just pick one.
In at 1 is the F2.b Biff (often mistakenly called a Brisfit)
At 2 would be a Harry Tate or RE 8
And lastly the Hannover CL.IIIa
The first two have that purposeful look about them that I like and the last because it was one of the first WWI Airfix kits I built all those 30 odd years ago, and I've been meaning to add a 1/48 one to the collection for some time.

Eras I look at eras.
Love the Halberstadt D.V. Absolutely neat design the ultimate flying tail. and the Red Baron used it for quite some time, painted red.
Second tie! Bristol F.2b, and Hannover CL.IIIa.
