What is the best glue to use on a canopy? I've tried elmers before but it doesn't seem to hold well enough to put the masking on later... I'm looking for something strong and needless to say clear and won't dry foggy.

Thanks, Hellbent

I've only masked the one canopy, but the way I did it was to mask it FIRST, THEN glue it to the plane.

Meaning good old PVA glue (presumably your "Elmers"?) was perfect

Seems like that would be a heap easier than trying to mask it once on the plane....

Microscale has two types of glue:

Micro kristal klear for permanently glueing clear parts

Micro liquitape for temporarily glueing parts togehter, or for canopies that you would like to be able to remove later.

Use the last one with care, it gives a bit of stains

i hope that this helps

Thanks guys! I guess I'll use the good old fashioned Elmers glue like before and tape the canopy off the model instead this time!

Thanks, Hellbent

I use Testors Clear Parts Cement and Window Maker, and I mask large glass off the kit, small glass after it's attached for ease of handling. I've had no issues with staining or fogging at all.

Hobby Town USA carries Bob Smith brand of super glues. SUPER-GOLD+™ is made for clear plastic; I used it on my Brewster Buffalo and it worked as advertised.

I can't say enough good things about Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue for clear parts. The bond is strong and it dries very clear. It is affordable and is easily had at most craft stores in the US.

If you tape off the model and stick it on. Will it be OK removing the masking?
I guess you are pulling and pushing a lot more when putting the masking on
than when taking it off. Never thought of that before. Nice one Damian!
