After making a start on this (my first WWI subject) I have realised what I have gotten myself in for with all the rigging!

I haven't got a clue how to achieve a good result! Can anyone recomend any references to the actual rigging on the Camel and how to actually do it on a model?

Any help muchly appreciated! I can see this going back in to the stash for a while

Thanks,
Philip

Hi Philip!
Don't put aside the project of the Camel: rigging is not as bad as one imagines!!
And being a novice myself, you can trust me most.

Now, for a tutorial of how to do it I can highlight a couple of links that can give you a really good idea of how the intire process works. Study them carefully, as they are quite complete and I learned all I know from these great modelers.

Have a good time and, please, come back with some pics of your work!

Hey Phillip. We haven't run into each other for some time. Shoot a few pics so we can see where you are, then we can offer more personalized help.

There are literally hundreds of different ways to do rigging. Everybody has their own favorite method they developed after many tries. They can range from easy to extremely difficult. The easiest way is to simply cut some hard music or brass wire to size and glue it into place. The results are not real convincing. The tutorials mentioned are very comprehensive, and you can choose something to suit your skill level. Just don't get bogged down on your first rigging job. You will get better results with each sucessive build, and probably develop your own favorite in time.

Your choice is not an easy first rigg job, but you can do it.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies guys.

After a visit to the LHS this morning I now have a 1:48 Eduard Fokker E.V. There is less rigging on the Fokker but enough to get some practice in so the camel is prosponed until the Fokker is finished. Look out for the Fokker thread soon!

Thanks ,
Philip
