Would the tires on the derelict helo be flat (dry rot and all that)?

That's really great Doug. It may need some evidence that the birds have been visiting though...

I was thinking more along the lines of the evidence on this lightning but a nest wouldn't hurt. And possibly some dust and graffiti on it as well? Maybe not so obviously offensive as what the hooligns put on the lighthing...

Jess
I just saw your post with the picture of your Dad's H-21, that would be fantastic to do, and in 1/72nd scale the Italieri kits would be light enough to work and they are great models. Go for it Girl!

Hi Doug,
outstanding work!!! Perfect!
This is an interesting color scheme I have never seen on a German H-21 before. Is there a photo source for that?
Keep building!
Regards,
Sebastian

I was in Germany several years ago with a US Army assignment and saw this helicopter abandoned in a wooded area. The German army and Air Force flew many H-21 helicopters in the 60's and 70's in lots of roles. You can find some pictures on airliners.net. I just love the way the German insignia looks on aircraft

Hi Doug ,
thanks for reply! There are a lot of nice pictures of the H-21 on Airliners.net.
That´s the reason why I cannot leave my hands from post war Bundeswehr stuff...
May I know where this was?
Many thanks and best regards,
Sebastian

Thanks Doug. You mean the area near Würzburg?
Your article infected me. I am thinking about building the 1:72 Italeri issue of the H-21. This issue gas very nice markings:
Italeri H-21 1:72
Best regards,
Sebastian

I don't know if it's coincidence, but the RCAF option in the Italeri kit just happens to be the one doing the lifting in the picture I posted above

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a way to mount them so they're secure and stable, and not getting very far. Bent wires in the place of the lift cables seemed the obvious way to go, but they'd either be horribly out of scale or so floppy that the whole thing would fall over
I think that I might have to go for the latter stages of the operation. Here's 610 back home at RCAF Greenwood with 591 in the background.
My Hobbycraft kit will become 610 while the Italeri will be 591

I think that a little out of scale wire would do the trick, and you could cheat alittle by having some guide wires hanging to the ground with personel manning them and these would stabalize the hovering helo.
