Wow! This is indeed very good news! Let's hope they do the Cletrac too at one point. Anyway, this model is already very promising...
Thanks a lot for sharing!

No need to pull out the big gun
I just thought of an invading troop of Japanese hiding behind the shield

Hi there
Very nice, albeit not exactly top of my list for day-to-day airfield vehicle. But it does conjure up a crazy idea for a diorama depicting Japanese aircraft being bulldozed after the surrender... Done well, that could be awesome!
All the best

Well I rather picture a dozer pushing some piece of jungle on an tropical island to free up some space to park the aircraft...

Hi Steffen
Yes, that'd be nice too (although I'm not sure I could model the trees and undergrowth convincingly) - but just as over-ambitious as the wreck-clearance for me, for whom just finishing the bulldozer itself would be a notable achievement!

Oh no, please not, Rowan! That guy in the seat is japanese, so this nice bulldozer will fit perfectly to all my japanese aircrafts like A6M,Ki-61, Ki-45 etc..... Have to look at my hobby dealer when he gets it in stock ....

I was just at the Tamiya Japan site and the pic there is a bit larger. I was just asking myself why the picture is named Komatsu G40 while on the model it reads Komatu???

Licensing, I'll bet. They can depict every component of the bulldozer, all of which are the intellectual property of Komatsu, but they can't show the actual name, also the intellectual property of Komatsu. Weird.

Sure, but there must be ways to show at least sufficient letters. How about KOMATBU or KOMAT8U which can be adjusted to an S or even leave a blank .... also I thought the "renaming-hype" in the modelindustry is primarily a result of the american copyright act. OTOH I know nothing about japanese laws, might be there is something similar. We had an interesting court decision here in Germany recently ... should make life easier (for some model car companies at least)

Hi all,
Over at Missing Lynx someone explained that KOMATU was indeed correct: see here
No need to worry, it seems Tamiya San has made a good job...

The picture at the side of the Report is much bigger than Tamiya image as well.. The photo on the Header of the story is reduced so it can be used in the 'What's New' Thread...

I googled images, the second one that pops up appears to be the restored musuem piece that Tamiya used. It would appear that KOMATU is definitely correct. Goody!

Original and useful subject choice, for a change... A Cletrac or a Type 97 or 95 tank with soldiers would have been more logical, but this is Tamiya's 1/48th scale vehicle range after all...
Hopefully they didn't muck it up like the Fi-156, Kubelwagen etc...
