Hi Mark.

For the tail end rigging I used 0.12mm monofilament, also used it for the control cables. All the wing rigging was done, including the flying wires, with 0.17mm mono. The undercarriage rigging will be the same as the wings but the aileron control cables will be 0.12mm.
You are correct when you say it is a straightforward build, apart from a couple of hiccups along the way it went together very easy.

The Sopwith Pup is finally finished. It has been an absolute joy building this kit and Wingnut Wings deserve to be complimented for producing such a brilliant kit. With it's ease of assembly this kit would be a great contender for anyone wishing to build WW1 aircraft but who only possess limited experience, for the more experienced modeller it has enormous scope for super detailing and finishing. I have built this kit virtually OOB adding only small amounts of extra detail to the cockpit area. I have no hesitation in recommending this kit.
I must send a big word of thanks to James Fahey for sending me this kit and giving me the opportunity to share my build experience with fellow modellers.

Nicely done! An a quick build as well. Tell us in brief what you liked about the build and what you would like to see changed in future WNW kits?

She turned out a beauty Des. As you say pretty much OOB and she looks spot on. I'll be happy if my DVa comes close to this.

The underwing shading is pretty damn right on the button too.

Thanks guys for your comments.

Stephen...... What I liked about this build was the simplicity of construction, the near perfect fit of parts albeit a little too tight sometimes, WNW attention to detail, fantastic decals, the brilliant instruction booklet and the compound of the plastic, not too soft or too hard.
In future I would like to see WNW include more PE with each kit, even though the instruction booklet is great it can be a little vague sometimes so a look at this by WNW would be good. The inclusion of more detailed parts for the engines and cockpits, plumbing, electrical etc would only enhance already terrific kits.

Hi Stephen.

You mentioned that this was "a quick build". I don't know if anybody else knows but I am retired so I spend a lot of time modelling, up to 10 - 14 hours per day, so the time spent on each individual model is quite a lot. My wife is a chef and is very involved with her work which takes up a lot of her time, so that leaves me free to persue my second love (first being my wife) and that is 1:32 scale WW1 aircraft modelling.

Beautiful build Des from start to finish
It was a pleasure watching this project come together and learning about the few small hic-ups along the way and how you resolved them . Thank-you for sharing the review with us

Des,
Congratulations on the completion of another Masterpiece.I appreciate all the outstanding skills and craftsmanship you've shared with your fellow modeler. That would include your web site as well. I have both the new Pups in the "To Do" Que now and your thread certainly will be a valuable asset for my own Pup projects. Thanks again my friend.

Hi Des:

Outstanding work! I have to echo Terri and Gregory's comments. Thank you for sharing your build, observations, and pointers. I am looking forward to the day I can retire and and devote more time to the hobby.

Best

Just as a footnote, I have added these three close-up photos showing the prop, Lewis gun and the rigging connections. With the gun I drilled a 0.4mm hole down the centre of the barrel to a depth of about 5mm, then using the same hole I drilled a 1mm hole to about 2mm deep. I cut a piece of 0.4mm brass tube to the correct length and inserted it into the 0.4mm hole giving the result shown.

Great finish. And as mentioned elsewhere, a great build thread. I think you should submit your pictures to WNW. It really looks like a nice, new Pup. Just a few ours of flight time on it. Very subtle weathering on the CDL (where weathering would show up first), and unfaded PC 10. I would be thrilled if I could get results like that.

Retired with a wife that is a chef. Sounds like we are pursuing the same life style. My wife is also my first love. Thanks for your contributions here at Aeroscale.

Hi Des

Stunning! I'll be referring to your thread throughout for advice when I tackle my Pup.

We really should get your build on the Frontpage as a Feature.

All the best

Hi Des!
That project of yours will be very interesting!
In fact I was considering that build, too; but as said before it has no wood grain (and I'd like to test my skills on that...).
Anyway, I'll watch you closely, so please keep on posting!

Thanks Edo.
I have already built the Roden SE5 but because my other 4 Wingnut kits were so good I thought i would do their SE5 as well. I'm really looking forward to the release of the Wingnut RE.8, it should be a beauty.

Just as a bit of fun, I bought a 1:35 scale model of a pushbike to add in my dioramas, the photo here shows it nearly completed, not a bad little kit with pretty good detail, cost less than $10.

Hi Stephen.

The little box that the kit came in is marked

MODEL-IN

Also on the box is

www.model-in.cn
[email protected]

When I go to this site it comes up as

toy-in.com

look under finished models.

I bought my kit through ebay and it was listed as

Resin Model Kit 1/35 WWII Bicycle (PE + Resin Kit)
Sellers email is

[email protected]

I realise it is WWII but for photo purposes it looks perfectly alright in my WW! aircraft dios.

Hope this helps you Stephen

Actually Edo, It does have some woodgrain. It is in the interior, which is a great place to experiment. You can also practice on a piece of sheet plastic or cardboard.

Nice bike
