I have the fuselages ready to begin the interiors.......
but before I do I have a Cutting Edge (I sure do miss them) set that I need to prep the fuselage for.........
So I removed the kit rudder......
and will be replacing the linkages on the Cutting edge parts with wire..............
more very soon,
Mark

Thanks Damian. I decided to modify the fuselage and add the forward firing ventral gun position with a 20mm MG/FF. I have the Koster Aero and Squadron canopies. Here you see the modification on the right fuselage with the Koster canopy. I'll be changing it to the Squadron canopy because it is clearer.

The Revell-Monogram He-111 has a very serious fuselage depth issue, which would require smash-moulding or vacu-forming a new canopy top portion at least, and deepening the fuselage upper sides several mms, maybe as much as most of a scale foot (4-5 mms) or more...
I would love to see this kit conversion regardless if you correct the fuselage or not, but if you attempted this difficult, but not impossible, fuselage correction, the effort might not be out of proportion with the overall effort this conversion will require anyway... I can offer advice for the deepened fuselage, but unfortunately the Squadron "Thermaform" smash-moulding plastic is discontinued, ensuring I will never try this correction myself anymore (though that clear plastic may still be ordered directly from plastic stock providers: I never went that far)...
Here's a link to a previous post of mine that offers comparative photos of the problem:

I hope you find these comments informative.

Gaston,
Thanks for the information. I always appreciate comments and information on my builds here. I'm checking several scale drawings and I have the Squadron canopies (and a Vac-u-form if need be). I'll have updates on it very soon.
Once again, please feel free to offer any insights on the kit or build here in the thread. It is much appreciated.

good luck with this build mark!
years ago there was an italeri 1/72 kit of a He111 zwilling on the shelf of my local model shop, i nearly bought it on many occasions but never did.
even in 1/72 it was a big complex looking kit!
